Chapter 3

"Are you ok, dear?" Sarah's mother asked.

"Uh… yeah, I'm ok. I… think I'll go outside to get to know the village."

"Take care!" her mother waved at her.

"Yeah, I will."

Sarah looked around. There weren't many people, or many houses either. The forest nearby looked beautiful in the afternoon Sun.

"Maybe that's why it's called Sunset Town," she muttered walking to the forest.

There was a small dirt road in the forest. It was covered with leaves and roots. The trees weren't very old; they were rather small. As she walked deeper into the woods, the trees started closing in. The light was dim; Sarah had trouble seeing everything ahead of her.

"Great, I hope I don't stumble over anything," Sarah muttered.

She stopped suddenly. The wind howled, like a lonely wolf.

"This gives me the creeps." She turned around. "I'm too paranoid!" she thought. "I'm starting to hear things."

There was a whisper; so quiet it was barely heard.

"Who's there?" Sarah asked, looking around.

Please help us.

She was trembling. "Wh… who's there?" she stammered.

Help us, please, help us! We can't free ourselves…

It was a girl's voice. Sarah looked around, hoping to see someone.

"What are you doing here?" someone asked from behind.
