The moon glinted off the mirror like surface of the lake refracting the light all over the surrounding forestry. Tommy had found this place when he was 7 and had gone looking for his run away kite. It was a beautiful secluded area making it a tiny paradise for Tommy. Especially now, with his monthly transformations, it offered him a place to change and be hidden away from the pitchfork-carrying inhabitants of Pleasantville.
At this very lake he first kissed and proclaimed his love to Merton. As Tommy stood there, he wasn't remembering his proclamation or the scorching kiss but the moment after when they were sitting on a bench and he held Merton in his arms. He was reliving the moment, watching a swan gracefully gliding across the water and Merton enthusiastically yet softly telling him inane facts about the delicate creature on the lake's surface. Merton's voice had soothed away his worries of the future and lulled him into a state of contentment.
That was the last time he saw him during that summer of their graduation from high school. It has been over 2 months since then and Tommy is pathetically pining after him. This wouldn't be so if he were able to leave Pleasantville but as it so happens he is safest here and must go to the nearby community college. Though he would have loved to accepted any one of the numerous athletic scholarships that would have taken him elsewhere, he couldn't. However, he figures that it is for the best and at least he won't have to pay extra for room and board.
The wind was beginning to blow now, bringing Tommy out of his reverie and back to the present. A chill running down his spine, he wrapped the jacket tight around his muscled frame and began the long trek home. As he was about to leave the area completely he heard a noise disturbing the water, turning he found a swan gliding across the lake followed by a tiny entourage of baby swans. Smiling, Tommy promised himself to comeback and check up on the new inhabitants of the lake to give him something to talk about and show Merton when he came back for Thanks-giving dinner this November.
What do you think! Short and sweet I say! K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid. grins Reviews would be whole-heartedly received. got to go. BYE-BYE!
