I don't own InuYasha.

He can always count on her.

Not necessarily in a good way. But she always follows the same current, never breaks off, keeps going and going and will do so forever. He knows it. Everyone else knows it.

And she knows it.

It makes her sad; it always will. But she always has hope. Hope that clay will eventually crumble and her souls will be released into the sky, as free as she will be when the day comes.

He will become free also, but far sooner than her. No matter what happens with his curse, he will be released before her. He will not wait for her. She wouldn't want him to. She has her own path.

But for now, for now he can rely on her to have the same voice, the same clothes, the same empty expression of her eyes even when she's crying.

The same taste of her cold lips on his.

It won't change.

And that they can live with.
