He's in denial.
He likes to pretend that he hates her. Likes to pretend that he isn't completely infatuated with her. He likes to say that she's evil and twisted and maniacal and she is, but that doesn't matter because he really thinks that she is amazing. He likes to hide the way he analyzes her and thinks about her all the time, because no one would understand.
He secretly likes it when she yells at him, because he loves when she pays attention to him. He even likes it when she makes him do things that he hates, because it's a thrill each time.
But what he loves the most is those brief times when she is nice and her eyes get soft around the edges and she looks like she's about to smile.
What he really loves...
