Running in 10X earth gravity,
Moving faster than the human eye could follow,
Chasing the animal to be dinner.
Stomach aching from missed meals
When nothing was caught,
Legs aching from previous miles run today
And everyday in history
Since freedom.
A crushing ache in the chest,
Knowing you will never be free
To move about the universe as you wish.
To conquer other planets.
But you have to stay here
On this one planet.
Chasing to catch dinner,
Hunting to find food,
Fishing in the streams
Though most have been drained dry.
Living on a world
Suffocated with population.
Never allowed to eat as much as you like
And often unable to eat anything at all.
Fighting not to become another's dinner
Trusting none
For there is none that wouldn't
Kill another for food.
In these hard times
The animal gets away.
