All Alone
A might clap of thunder rouses me from the dead,
As the pounding of rain on shingles echoes in my head.
I turn for comfort, yet find you gone,
Once again, I am all alone.
As all the memories return with a flash,
I still hear the screams, and that final crash.
I regret the last thing I said to you that day,
Before the good Lord took you away.
Hero was the role you chose yet again,
You always were the perfect gentleman.
You seemed invincible; you won every bout,
I guess this time your luck just ran out.
Never again will I see your charming smile,
Or the way your eyes soften when you look at a child.
After all of the adventures and times we've been through,
I can't believe you're gone, and never knew I loved you.
Another blast of thunder breaks my train of thought,
I had hoped it was a terrible dream, but I now see it's not.
I turn for comfort, yet find you gone,
Once again, I am all alone.
