The Labyrinth Underground

(scene 4)

The Phantom and Christine take their strange journey to the Phantom's lair. Candles rise from the stage. We Christine and the Phantom in a boat which moves slowly across the misty waters of the underground lake.

Hermione sang, "In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came. That voice which speaks to me and calls my name. And do I dream again? For now I find, the Phantom of the Opera is there- inside my mind."

Draco answered, "Sing once again with me, our strange duet. My power over you grows stronger yet. And thought you turn from me, to glance behind, the Phantom of the Opera is there- inside your mind."

Hermione sang back, "Those who have seen your face draw back in fear. I am the mask you wear…"

Draco finished the thought, "It's me they hear…"

Both sing in a unison duet, "Your/my spirit and your/my voice, in one combined: the Phantom of the Opera is there, inside your/my mind…"

Offstage voices sing eerily, "He's there, the Phantom of the Opera… Beware the Phantom of the Opera…"

Draco sang, "In all your fantasies, you always knew, that man and mystery…"

Hermione now finished his thought. "Were both in you…"

Both sang entrancingly, "And in this labyrinth, where night is blind, the Phantom of the Opera is there/here, inside your/my mind"

Draco shouted, "Sing, my Angel of Music!"

Hermione obeyed. "He's there, the Phantom of the Opera…" She began to vocalize strangely, her song becoming more and more extravagant.
