The Prick of A Rose

As the casket was lowered into the ground, it took every fiber of Roger Smith's body not to totally lose control. He should have taken notice of the signs earlier! The coughing that continued until he had coughed up blood, the high fevers, it was probably due to his non-stop Negotiating he had done!

Flash back

Roger had just recently gotten back from one of his jobs only to find the front windows of his mansion blown out. He quickly rushed inside and found Norman crumpled up on the floor, next to him stood a terrified Dorothy. While he sped off towards the hospital he questioned Norman about what had happened but all the old man could talk about was how proud he was to have been in Roger's service and how he was proud to have seen him develop into the sense of judgment Paradigm had relied on. He was crying in frustration as he tried yet again to ask him but he just continued to go on about Roger. Once they arrived, Norman was immediately rushed into surgery. A week after the incident he was released. Looking back on that thought Roger thought to himself that they had missed something. One day while doing laundry Norman had passed out, and was found by Dorothy. It had been her scream that had alerted Roger. He was yet again rushing him to the hospital.

After being checked over by the doctors, Norman was allowed visitors. Roger and Dorothy walked in and she went over to Norman's side. Norman went to go ask the doctor the diagnose. As the doctor had told him that all they could do was make him comfortable Dorothy had to restrain him from killing the doctor.

End of Flash Back

It was the day of the funeral that Roger had driven to the nearest bar and gotten more drunk then he had ever been before. Some how he had managed to drive home and stagger inside. Once there he ran over to his desk and began throwing things off of it at the walls. Once he was down to one hour-glass he looked at it with an insane glint in his eyes. He then picked it up and broke off one of the ends and raised it to his throat. As he shed one tear all the memories of Norman flooded through his head Just as he raised it to administer the final blow a sudden cry stopped him. He looked up with is tear streaked eyes and found that the voice belonged to Dorothy.

"What do you want? Can't you see I am trying to put you out of your misery of having me as your…master? I'm not about to let another of the ones I care about get harmed again!" before he could do it Dorothy had grabbed his hand causing him to drop the glass.

He turned to look at her and let the tears he had held so long go. She quickly embraced him. What startled him was that she felt warm! He turned to look at her and found that her once green skin had turned to a normal color.

Roger raised his head to look at her straight in the eyes and kissed her slowly and carefully at first, until he felt her lips on his. He pulled her closer as he deepened the kiss. Letting his tongue enter through her mouth and caress hers. Finally they broke for air and walked hand in hand out onto their balcony. She leaned on Roger and said only one thing:

"You are a louse Roger Smith!"

Fin.
