Drown My Sorrow
Once in a while
You meet someone truly amazing
Of a kind you've never seen before
Of a life you've never experienced
Of a love you've never known
Once in a while
This person will want you
In an awkward kind of way
In an absolute way, and ambiguous way
In a way that makes you love
A man you've just met
A boy you'll wish you never knew
So a heartache of the unusual kind will leave
So obliteration will wait just a little longer
So the man in the jumpsuit wont see you kiss
So fear and love remain two polar opposites
Instead of flipping upside down
And the only difference is a thin line
So thin, it breaks when I step
Yet connects when he flies
When he should have sunk
When he left me hear, alone
To wonder if I ever knew him
To not realize he was my one true love
To not know
Never know
Who Donnie Darko was
Is
All I know is that I mourn his death
And I never even met him.
Disillusion: I do not own Donnie Darko or anything affiliated with that movie. If I did, this poem would never exist because I would never have seen it because the movie would never have existed, so it's a good thing I don't own it. I know I'm happy with it.
AN: Poem by Gretchen Ross about Donnie Darko. Not my usual style of poetry, so tell me what I need to improve for future times. Criticism is excepted (is requested), but please do not tell me it is bad and give me no reasons. Thank you.
