Until Tomorrow
Light filters down from
the street,
Lonely golden rays peek
through the grating.
Though I would love to
I cannot get too
close.
For if I do, they will
see.
That is something I
cannot allow.
They are not ready for
me.
Not ready for my
family.
Someday they will be.
But that day is not
today.
Maybe tomorrow we will
not have to hide,
Down here in the dark
tunnels below.
I dream of tomorrow.
For now that is all it can
be,
A dream, evanescent
hope.
The sun is out today.
I watch it dance
through the holes above me,
Yet, I remain here in
the dark,
Banished to this realm
below,
Simply for being what I
am.
They are not ready
today,
But people change, and
someday they will be.
When that day comes we
will take a place in the sun.
Until then, we are
ninja.
We stick to the
shadows.
