Margo was in the ladies room trying to dry off her dress. Had he spilled that drink all over her on purpose? Had he already figured her out? Her every instinct was screaming yes. One thing she learned as a cop was there was no such thing as a coincidence. She had to get back in there and nail him. She pulled the wire out and tested it, but found it no longer worked. She didn't have any communication with Jack, Tom, or any of the uniforms. Should she pull the plug on this? No, she decided. This was her only chance to really prove this was the rapist and the more time she stood there, the less of a chance he would still be there when she came out. After she made sure she was dry, she took one last look in the mirror when something unusual in the view behind her made her look again. It was a man. David, she thought. However, before she could react, he grabbed her from behind, covering her mouth and holding her to him tightly.
David picked up the small wire on the counter by the sink and held it up to Margo's face. "Isn't it amazing how something so advanced can be made useless with one innocent spill of a drink?" Margo tried to fight him, to gouge him in the stomach, step on his foot, everything she was trained to do, but nothing seemed to work. She tried to scream, but with him covering her mouth, nothing came out. "Woah, getting a little feisty there, aren't we... Margo, he whispered in her ear as she struggled against him. He looked and saw Margo's wide eyes in the mirror, "That's right. Did you really think I wouldn't know who you are?" He shoved her up against the wall and pinned her there while he pulled out a knife and held it dangerously close to her skin. "Now, we are going to walk out of here slowly and calmly. The back exit is just around the corner. One false move and you can say goodbye to your family. Got it?" Margo nodded with tears running down her face. David quickly peeked out the door to see if anyone was watching and then he and Margo went around the corner and out the back exit without making a sound.
"What do you mean you can't find her?" Tom yelled angrily into the radio. Shanks immediately answered him, "We saw her go into the ladies room, but she never came out. Now the suspect is gone too," he explained. Tom looked at Jack with sheer terror in his eyes. Jack grabbed the radio, "Tear that place apart. Find her, or I'll have every single one of your jobs, you hear? We're coming in!" With that, Tom and Jack hurried out of the surveillance van and into the bar.
Margo cooperated with David until they reached the garage just outside Metro. When he reached over to close the door behind him, Margo let her police training kick in and punched him in the stomach and then shoved her knee right between his legs. He doubled over in pain, giving her just enough time to pull out the gun she had securely strapped to her thigh, and aim it right at him. "Drop the knife," she told him, firmly but quietly, while she tried to keep her hands from shaking. "Did you really think I was going to let you take advantage of me the way you did those other women... Richard?" Now it was his turn to be surprised. "Yeah, that's right." she said, "I know your secrets too. Now maybe you can let me in on something I'm having trouble with," she continued as he stared down the barrel of her gun with a blank expression. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't pull this trigger right now and blow you straight to hell." Instead of answering her, he lunged right into her causing her to loose her balance and fall backward with him on top of her, losing control of the gun.
Jack walked out of the ladies room after searching. When Tom found him, he said, "anything?". Jack held up the wire that had been left on the counter in the bathroom. "We found this in there, but nothing else. He seems to have gotten away. I'm sorry Tom." Tom refused to believe that, "Hell, no. Not with my wife, he hasn't." He couldn't explain it, but somehow he just knew that Margo was somewhere near them. "I watched her teach a self-defense class once." Tom said as he walked around trying to string his thoughts together. "The first thing she stressed was not to let an attacker take you to a second location. She said to do whatever you had to do to keep that from happening. She has got to be somewhere around here. I can feel it." As Tom looked around, he felt something crunch beneath his shoe. He bent down to look at it and discovered it was Margo's earing. "Jack, she's still here. Look." But before Jack could look at what Tom found, they heard the sound of a gunshot from close by.
