Author's Note: Please note that this is a one shot and placed sometime after Sasuke has gone to Orochimaru. I was going to make this story light and funny but it refused to go the way I wanted and somehow ended up as a deep character analysis type of story. Barely one page but… it seemed fitting somehow to end it where I did. Hope you enjoy it.

Madman
(One Shot)
It was blood, raining blood, it soaked the dirt ground until it was nothing but black, puddles of red running liquid rushed like a tiny river, trailing passed small grass patches and rocks. The cries of his victims have long since been silenced, a mere echo of their cries vibrating against the canyon walls.
He smiled, cold and cynical, slightly amused and yet the intensity of his eyes never wavered. He looked around him feeling nothing and yet feeling something at the same time, perhaps it was pleasure, satisfaction or disgust. He wasn't sure which but then he wasn't one to examine his emotions, they often fell into two categories – nothingness and even more nothingness. His heart had ceased to exist in his black soul smothered by his ambition for power and revenge and he had to admit, he was pleased with the outcome.
His hatred would do nicely.
A grey haired man with large round glasses that gave him the appearance of a young scholar rather then that of a ruthless, calculating, medical ninja smiled amused at the boy.
"It is time to get back Sasuke, Orochimaru is getting worried."
Sasuke turned and flashed him an icy cold glare that promised death and destruction but such a look however had little effect on him.
He smiled highly amused and looked around him, raising an eyebrow. "Don't you think you were a little too flashy?" he asked, the scene he was looking at was littered with torn flesh and splattered blood. He could tell even from here that it would take a while to put the bodies back together again - not that he would want to, it would be a waste of time when they could simply burn the bodies and be done with the chore.
Sasuke turned away and stared around him blankly, it was obvious that what he had done had little effect on him. "I wanted to see what it was like to be a madman." Came his soft emotionless reply.
"Oh?" Kabuto questioned, raising his finger and pushing his glasses back, the ever pleasant and yet cunning look in his eyes. "Well then, Orochimaru would be pleased."
Sasuke's head jerked up and he stared at the medical ninja, his suspicion carefully hidden behind blanked eyes, was the man mocking him?
Kabuto stepped back and smiled a kind and pleasant smile, he wasn't one for confrontations not unless he was forced and he always had the healthy ability to avoid such happenings. "Shall we get back?"
Sasuke turned away and proceed towards their hidden village without a word.
Kabuto chuckled and followed. Madman indeed he thought cynically amused, hasn't it occurred to you Sasuke? You are a madman.
And in the scene behind him, smoke billowed from the burning village, children's bodies littered the ground and the blood splattered on the broken homes that had once belonged to the peaceful inhabitants of the village.
Isn't that what you want Sasuke? He asked silently, to be the madman?
