In case you didn't read the intro. This is my first fanfic be nice…
I don't own Inuyasha or related any related characters. That honor goes to Rumiko Takahashi and her alone.
Also this is the first in a 4 chapter story. Although this is my first story I've always loved chapter fanfics.
One more thing all chapters after this will be rated PG13 and up.
Inuyasha woke to the sound of sniffling downstairs. To his sensitive ears it sounded as if the crier was right beside him. He got up and put on his usual attire of red shirt and baggy pants, wondering who would be crying at the oh-so-ripe time of 3:00 Am. His back was still uncomfortable from the down bed he had been sleeping on for the past few days, it didn't hurt, it was just, uncomfortable. He walked downstairs silently, as if he was still in the forest walking on the branches and leaves, hunting a fresh scent.
Kagome meanwhile was downstairs, in the living room, InuYasha being so near and so silent all the time pained her. This wasn't the first time she felt like this. She had always known Inuyasha was there for her but she could never say the only thing she wanted to say. The simple three words were always near but never there. The whispered words near-silently slipped out of Kagome's mouth. "InuYasha… I love you…"
InuYasha, now in the hall leading to the kitchen and living room, heard these whispered words. The sudden blast of it all overtook him, it ran before him screaming in the silence. It broke the din that was ringing in InuYasha's ears before he did. A silent scream rang out in the night, but still overtaking all sound was Kagome's silent weeping. He knew he felt the same way about her, ever since she broke the spell pinning him to the tree. The feelings stronger than ever, when the lecherous monk Miroku joined their group. Touching Kagome in places InuYasha sometimes dreamed about. "That bitch…" he croaked as if he was still the same tough guy Kagome found pinned by the sacred arrow. "She could've told me before now…" His voice still coming out as a croak. "She was always right by me… Even with those Ex-am things she's always going on about". He suddenly wished he was right there by her side, telling her not to worry, telling her he would always be there. But even to him the dialogue that he was oh-so longing to repeat to Kagome sounded stupid and awkward. And so his mind reverted the script to a simple three words. "I love you to… Ka-go-me". He whispered his voice now reverting to the now familiar croak.
Kagome, whose ears were not as sensitive as Inuyasha's had not heard his whispered admittance, was going to go back to bed when she noticed InuYasha in the hall.
"So…" Said InuYasha .
"So what?" replied Kagome wondering what InuYasha could possibly be talking about.
"Is that how you really feel?"
Kagome gasped, she suddenly remembered what she had said aloud, the burden of those three words now weighed down on her shoulders as if someone had dropped lead weights on them.
"You heard it?" she whispered.
"All of it" confirmed InuYasha.
