Author's Note: Konnichiwa, minna. I'm here to deliver a fanfic, but I'm a newbie so go easy on me, okay? Right, this fanfic is presented due to my latest craze on Hiei, so you know now who I wanna write about. Unfortunately, the girl in this story isn't me; I'm not exactly like her. My other favourites won't let me. *Gaara sat beside me looking at me, sand swirling dangerously. Ren just stood there ready to whip out his 'kwandao' at the slightest slip.* But don't worry, I know they'll never hurt me. ^-^ Well, I hope you'll enjoy it, forgive me if it's Mary- Suish.

Disclaimer: I don't own YYH, unfortunately *pouts*, but this is my story, so I own Mizuko.

Chapter 1: Mizuko no Mayoi: Mizuko's Confusion

The surrounding was absolutely black. She couldn't even see herself. Where was she? She heard a voice beckoning her. She searched for the source of the voice and saw, in the distant, a bright red light. "Come, child. Closer." The voice, it was so sweet, so silky. She began to approach the red light. "No! Don't! Come back!" This voice was softer, more urgent. A blue light appeared on the other side, glowing weaker than the red. She turned to head for the blue light. The red voice persisted "Come to me. Come closer." Again, she moved towards the sweet voice. "Yes, child, that's it. Closer."  Suddenly, the blue voice called, urgency ringing in the tone. "No, don't go near him, onegai. It's not safe. Please, come back!" She stopped, torn between the two voices. She looked at each light, contemplating their voices. The red one was so persuasive but the blue one, there was something about it. She stared at the weak sparkle. Somehow, she felt warmth filled her being. She made up her mind and walked towards the blue light. "No! Don't listen to her. Come here, my dear." She ignored it. Suddenly, a shriek sounded. The voice that was so sweet a moment ago turned venomous, its shrieks dripping with poisonous hatred. The air around her turned cold and fierce winds whipped around her. She was running now, away from the voice. She ran harder. The blue light was almost within her reach. She tripped and fell as evil laughter filled her darkness.

Mizuko sat up quickly, still shivering from the nightmare. Wiping her sweat of her forehead, she glanced at the bedside clock. Four in the morning. Suddenly, the right side of her neck throbbed. She clutched her neck, wincing momentarily. As quickly as it had come, it disappeared. Sighing, she stepped into the bathroom. She knew that there won't be anymore sleep in her.

At school…

"Ohayou, Mizuko-chan. A re, what is that red mark on your neck?" "Hm? I don't know. I've had it for a few days already." Mizuko smiled at her friends, assuring that she was fine. "Class, stand." They went back to their places as the teacher entered the class. Throughout the lesson however, Mizuko couldn't concentrate as the throbbing in her neck began to be more painful and memories of her nightmare filled her mind. "Sairen-san, what's wrong? You look pale." "I feel a little uncomfortable, sensei." "Please go see the school nurse now, you might have a cold." "Hai." Mizuko stood and left the classroom.

At the health office…

"Mizuko-chan, it's so rare to see you here." Mizuko smiled at the nurse as she seated herself in front of her. "Now, what's wrong with our little doctor here?" Mizuko blushed slightly. She was nicknamed that because her father was a doctor and she also showed interest in basic medicals and first aid. She showed the red mark to the nurse, "I had this couple of days back. It wasn't inflamed or anything, just there. And just this morning, it began hurting." The nurse examined her and after a while, stood up and shook her head. "There's nothing wrong, everything is normal. Maybe it's just a pigmentation disorder. But, to be safe I'll bandage it to prevent further swelling." "Arigatou."

After school…

Mizuko breathed a sigh of relief as she exited the classroom. Her friends wished her a happy summer's vacation and left. She waved goodbye and then decided to drop in at the book store before heading home. (A/N: Yes! She's a manga fan!) After that, she headed home. "Tadaima." Mizuko called out as she entered the house. When no one answered her, she immediately sensed that something was wrong. "Kaasan? Tousan?" Her parents were usually home at this hour. Where could they be? A sudden feeling of dread filled her as she walked slowly into the living room. The sight that greeted her shocked her senseless. Her parents lay in the center of the room. Looks of terror covered their faces and their bodies were ripped open in place, showing the internal organs. Mizuko felt bile rise to her throat.

A short, raspy chuckle made her wheel around. She gasped and backed away. There were horrible-looking creatures staring at her. Some had horns, all of them had fangs and claws and they seemed to be sneering triumphantly at their latest kill. And now they were advancing towards her. She stepped back and tripped. Fear immobilized her, leaving her unable to say anything. She felt her eyes water and closed them, waiting for doom to fall. Instead, she heard a painful shriek and a loud ripping noise. Mizuko opened her eyes and saw four people standing in front of her. "It's not good to attack helpless people." One of them said. They seemed strangely familiar but in the state of confusion, she couldn't think clearly. The creatures had pounced on the four and a fight took place.

[I must dreaming. I must be dreaming.] Mizuko repeated to herself as she watched the scene in front of her. Suddenly, one of the fallen creatures swiped at her. She blocked but the strength pushed her back. As she felt a sharp pain in her head, she realized it wasn't a dream. But now there's another problem. She was getting dizzy. [Crap. I'm having a concussion.] The only thing she saw was four blur faces looking at her, before everything went black.

A/N: How was it? I hope it's not bad. Well, please read and review. Don't flame me that bad if you have to. Arigatou ne. ^_^
