Chrono looked at Aion for a moment in confusion. What did he mean, earthly ties must be broken? He was only here because he chose to be. So why-

"Chrono!"

He turned at Mary's scream. Blood gushed around the blade protruding from her heart. Slowly she started to fall, her body making a graceful arc that seemed to call all attention from all around.

"Mary!"

Folding his wings, he dropped, catching her seconds before she hit. This close, he could feel the life leaving her body. Crystal blue eyes stared past him. Her mouth opened in an 'o' of surprise, Mary Magdalin died.

Chrono held her close to him. Tears stung his eyes, but did not fall. Coldness washed over him, cloaking his quaking form.

"Mary..."

"She's gone Chrono. Come home with me. Forget her. Come home, and take your place as one of Pandimonium's greatest Sinners. Come home...brother."

Chrono closed his eyes. A single tear fell, splashing onto the cross around Mary's neck. Laying her down gently, he rose. Scarlet eyes glowed, glittering with hatred. The devils wings opened, casting a shadow on his face.

"Aion!"

He rose in the air, eyes still firmly on his brother.

"What have you done? How dare you touch what's mine?"

Aion flew back a few metres.

"Chrono-"

"Aion-"

Black fire surrounded the devil.

"My own brother."

The tears dried in the heat of his anger.

"...why?"

"Come back home brother."

Chrono flung himself forward, into his brother's demonic shield. Blades sprang from his hands. He tore wings, tails and throats, eyes all the while fixed on Aion. Boddies dropped around him, landing amongst the fearful humans below. Within minutes hundreds had fallen, and the rest of Aions guard had fled.

Aion remained motionless, staring horrified as Chrono slaughtered devils, his own people. Never before had such a thing been so much as considered. Especially with someone like Chrono.

flashback
A young demon lay on the ground, the fire that had brought him down only just fading. His darker counterpart ran forward, protecting the other from further harm. Lightning flew from the youth to surround their attacker. Chrono turned to see if Aion was okay, but still with the aura of power.

"Chrono...thanks. But...why? How..."

Chrono grinned nonchalantly.

"Hey, you're my brother. Don't complain."

Aion had thought nothing of it. It wasn't important.

Except for that power."

end flashback

Chrono and Aion circled eachother, flashing in and out in some kind of warped dance. Chrono's blades whipped dangerously close to Aion, slicing easily into his skin. His eyes were cold, the power radiated from him. Blood fell like rain, splattering on the ground below. In one of the brief moments where the two were together, Aion swung blindly, and caught Chrono's horns. Chrono's eyes deadened as he fell to earth.

The door to the tomb of Mary Magdalin swung close. Now the only light shining out was that made by the eyes of the devil within. Looking into them, Aion was scared.

For in those eyes was a force that not even brotherhood could stand up to. In those eyes was a force that could overturn Pandimonium.

In those eyes...

Was power.

Not mine, not mine. What am I saying? Of course it's mine. sigh

I would appreciate a review. That would make me smile. :)

And I know this is pointless, but please don't worry. I'll even accept flames!

God I'm desperate. ;)
