Chapter One
A Full Moon
"Professor Dumbledore, I don't feel well, may I go to Madame Girry?" a 16 year old Remus Lupin asked timidly.
His friends James Potter and Sirius Black, sensing something was up called out, "We'll take him Professor." and left their transfiguration class hurriedly.
James asked as they got out of the classroom, thinking Remus had just pulled up an excuse to get them out of class.
"No, I really don't feel good," Remus said looking at his feet.
"That's okay Remus; we're not going to get in trouble! Let's sneak into the kitchen," Sirius suggested.
"Or we could sneak over to Honeyduke's cellar," James said thoughtfully.
"We don't have the time, and they'll know we're Hogwarts students," Sirius commented.
"You guys go on, I really don't feel well. I'm going to go to the hospital wing."
"Suit yourself," James shrugged,
"Come on James, the kitchen is calling," Sirius grinned, pulling at James' arm. They walked around the corner, and Sirius suddenly stopped.
"What the..." James said as Sirius jerked his arm.
"Let's go," Sirius urged.
"Let's go where, the kitchen's that way," James said confused.
"You don't really think Remus is going to Girry do you!" Sirius asked "Let's follow him and see why he won't let us come with him."
Sirius and James silently followed Remus up staircases, and through corridors, until he finally came to a stop in front of the headmaster's office.
"Dung Bomb," Remus said, and the gargoyle jumped out of the way, revealing a large spiral staircase.
"We can't go up there without being seen," Sirius said disappointed.
"Got just the thing," James grinned, as he reached into his book bag and pulled out a large silvery cloak.
"The invisibility cloak! Excellent!" Sirius exclaimed. James put the cloak around both of them and started climbing the steps, just as the gargoyle sprang back in front of the staircase. There was a locked door as they got to the top of the staircase, so they both pressed their ears on the door and listened carefully.
"Remus, you are here because of the full moon I expect?" they heard Headmaster Dippet's voice.
"Full moon?" Sirius and James mouthed to each other, each with a confused look on their face.
"Yes headmaster," Remus answered.
"I took the liberty of petrifying the tree myself, so all you have to do is press the knot." the headmaster explained.
"Thank you professor," Remus said. James and Sirius heard footsteps coming, and quickly got out of the way. They had both figured out what was going on. Tonight was a full moon. Their friend was a werewolf.
