BEYOND THE VEIL
As he slipped backwards through the veil, Sirius tried to regain his footing but found that it was too late. The was a flash of light and Sirius felt his back collide with the ground. But it was not hard and much to his surprise, he was not winded. He closed his eyes, not able to look around out of fear. Harry's voice echoed through the area. Sirius shot up and listened as he heard Remus's voice chime in as well.
"Get him, save
him, he's only just gone through!"
"It's too late
Harry-"
"We can still reach him-"
Harry
struggled hard and viciously, but Lupin would not let go...
"There's
nothing you can do, Harry...nothing...He's gone."
There voices sounded so far away but he couldn't imagine how that was possible. He had only tripped backwards. Suddenly, something struck him, Lupin's words echoed in his mind once more:
"There's nothing you can do, Harry...nothing...He's gone."
It was only then that Sirius examined his surroundings. The sky above him was a crystalline blue and he looked down to find that the floor was made of white clouds. He was stunned with his realization of were he was. Heaven. A gentle hand was laid on his shoulder. Sirius spun to see the warm hazel eyes, dark jet-black hair and glasses that he hadn't seen in over fifteen years. James pulled Sirius into a brotherly embrace. James pulled away to stare at his long lost friend. A tear was crawling slowly down his cheek.
"Welcome home, Padfoot."
