Forget The Past

"Chosen, If I may ask, what are you still doing up?"

The slender red-haired man turned to look behind him, to be greeted by the solid visage of Regal Bryant, the Lezareno company president.
"Hey Mr.Prez." Zelos winked with a smirk. "Nothing really."
The night was cold, and standing on the Altamira Hotel's balcony was not magically going to make it warmer.

"The others are all sleeping. It's also rather chilly out here. You should return inside."
"Eh." Zelos shrugged, his smirk never leaving his face.
"I'm enjoying the stars, sea, ya know? Soooo romantic."
He chuckled, before turning back to watch the ocean.
"...And the cold doesn't bother me much."
Regal watched him carefully, then nodded somewhat to himself.
"Well, be sure to come inside soon." He turned then, and walked to the lovely sliding glass doors.

"Hey, Regal..."
He stopped and turned to face the back of the younger man.
Silence prevailed for a few seconds, in which Zelos' eyes scanned over the ocean.
"I've got a question for you."
" All right." Regal said, stepping forward. "I'll try to answer to the best I can."
Silence reigned again, and finally Zelos broke it.
"Those shackles...why don't you take them off?"
Regal raised a thick blue eyebrow. "Hm?"
"Those shackles remind you of your really sucky past. I mean, don't they laugh at you constantly, telling you and reminding you the problems of before?"

Regal approached the other man, taking a place at his side, able to watch the ocean as well.
"It is a symbol of my crime."
"Yeah, but look..." Zelos sighed, turning to face the older man, placing a hand on his hip.
"You've killed Vharley, Helped save Colette, got Presea to get her soul back, fought with us, Cooked for us, showed us to that mine, helped Lloyd, Ya know...that's pretty much a good way to make it up to her."
Regal turned his head, watching the dark waves gently lap onto the sand.
"That may be true, but I am still trying to atone."
Zelos slapped his forehead. "Good god, for how long will you be in 'atonement'?"
Regal turned to watch him again.
"Once we have taken care of Derris-Kharlan, I will release myself from my bonds."

"Oh. Heh."
"Tell me Chosen, would you rather not remember your past?"
Zelos blinked, as if surprised, then laughed softly, placing both hands on the railing of the balcony. Facing the distance he chuckled again.
"I dunno. Maybe."
"You are always vaguely ominous." Regal observed aloud, and Zelos smirked.
"It's cuz I'm sexy!"
The blue haired man sweatdropped. "Right...of course..."

"We anyway..." Zelos yawned, stretching his arms out wide, and then laid them by his side. "Better turn in then."
"Yes." Regal spoke softly, taking Zelos' hand in his.
Zelos blinked, and gazed down at the larger hand touching his.
"Rest, Chosen. I'll look out for you."

Zelos glanced at the other man, slightly confused, but he nodded, his eyes catching the other mans. "Okay."
Regal smiles slightly, nodding his head.
"Let's turn in now." Regal spoke again, softly instructing. Zelos nodded with a grin.
"Sure thing, Mr.Prez."
They released hands and walked inside, to a warmer place.

...The End...
