Disclaimer: These usually depress me... No. I don't own them. That okay with you?
This kind of hit me while listening to a song about angels. Don't even remember the song, but I started to wonder... What if Starfire was an angel? What would happen if she was called back to where ever because her mission, what ever that was, on Earth was done? And in this case: Betrothed never happened. Anyway, reader, just let your eyes travel down and start reading.
-Going Back-
Starfire looked up at the blue sky, hands clasped before her chest.
I don't want to leave.
Feeling the pulse once again, she breathed out deeply. She shook her head slightly, wishing that it wasn't time to go.
I haven't finished here. I can't leave.
She heard the door open, and knew without looking that it was Robin. The footsteps stopped.
"Starfire? What are you doing? Why is your room empty?" She turned to smile sadly at him. His eyes opened slightly wider as he stared at her.
"I- I don't understand. Are you leaving?" She hesitated, then felt the last, final call wash through her. Turning, she spread feathered wings as the wind lifted her. His startled shout rang through her mind, the pleading note reverberating.
"Star!"
The other Teen Titans, in their various places around the Tower, watched silently. Raven turned away from the window, letting the curtain fall. Beast Boy dangled his feet over the edge of the roof as Cyborg leaned against the foundation. Robin reached up, as if he could capture her and bring her back down. She spiraled up, the burst of light taking her with it to where she was called.
"Starfire!"
Soon. I promise, Robin. I'll be back. I'll come back to you.
Guardian angels have to go back
But we know they'll come home again
Because angels can fall in love
Oh, yeah
Angels can fall in love...
