Sora's New love
Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon nor do I own their characters. But I do own the ideas of this story, and the original characters.
A/N: To all those who have read my previous stories, which were based on the Powerpuff girls, I have created this new story. I have explained that I like digimon as well in my profile. This is my first Digimon fiction, so please, enjoy and no flames please! Note: this is somewhat of a self-insertion story. This takes place around season 2, right after the defeat of Malemyotismon.
Ch 6: The Moment of Truth
It's been five years since the day James and Sora fell in love and became boyfriend and girlfriend. Much had changed since. James has decided to stay and live in Japan for the rest of his life, which partially, his feelings for Sora has urged him to stay behind. James now lives in his own apartment, two miles north of where Sora lives. James would return to hang out with Shinjiro and go shopping with his girlfriend. The couple had grown in understanding each other over the years. James now has begun to consider marrying her.
Ai and Shinjiro have also improved their relationship status. Ai was living in her own apartment for some time before James moved out. When James moved out, Shinjiro had really felt a little unaccustomed to the lack of company in his apartment. Shinjiro also took the chance to improve his relationship status with Ai. One day, Ai's landlord had become more and more greedy for money, and she raised Ai's rent as well as the other tenants' to a very high rate. Even though Ai had a good income source as a blooming keyboard player in a band, she did not approve of the high rent rates. So, Shinjiro popped the question and Ai said she would love to move in with him. She had offered to help with the rent, but Shinjiro refused nonetheless and said he could handle it. She moved into James' old room and had been very happy with her lover.
It's a beautiful Sunday morning and James woke up and decided on some things he was going to do today. James' new apartment was a beautiful place. It was definitely a lot bigger than Shinjiro's apartment. It has a nice living room, an elegant dining room and kitchen. There was also a balcony with a breathtaking view. James was lucky to have just the right job to support his financial needs.
James was just stepping out of the bathroom after freshening up, when his digimon walked into the corridor. Agumon now sleeps on a giant cushion in the middle of the living room every night. The digimon was yawning and sluggish. However, Agumon's mood instantly perked up. Three years ago, Agumon had fallen in love with Sora's Biyomon and that really changed his personality. He was no longer cruel and hot tempered like he used to exert on Shinjiro. He is just a little adorable yellow dinosaur digimon. "Morning buddy, what you want for breakfast today?" James asked as he handed Agumon a towel as he passed him. "Usual, bacon and eggs, with a extra serving of bacon on the side." "Ok!" James said, as he laughed and chuckled. Agumon has always been on a meaty diet ever since he lived with James. "One day, I'm going to force him on a healthy diet or else I'll be dealing with a dinosaur version of Garfield!" James thought as he prepared breakfast for him and his friend.
Sora woke up this morning in pretty good spirits. She has been this way for quite a while now. James was really being nice to her and every moment she gets to spend time with him, she almost squeals with delight, which she finds somewhat embarrassing since she realized that she usually did not react that way. She actually hopes that something nice will occur between her and her love. She was making breakfast while Biyomon walked into the kitchen. "Morning!" She chirped as she flapped her wings and hovered a few feet off the ground to see what was on the stove. "Ham and scramble eggs…yummy!" She chirped again as she landed. The two of them ate their breakfasts a moment later and then they carried out their things for the day.
Ai was the first one to wake up in Shinjiro's place. She trudged into his room to find him still asleep. She noticed that the blinds were closed and she went to them and flung them wide open, letting the bright morning sun rays in. Many of the rays hit Shinjiro and he sort of flinched. However, Shinjiro just rolled over and he snored on with the rays on his back. "Lazy son of a booger…sleeps in pretty much all the time…" Ai mumbled as she fumed at her futile attempts to wake him up. She loved him, but there were some flaws of his that drives her crazy!
She pulled her right arm back like a tennis player preparing for a serve. In one smooth, fluid motion, she swung her hand towards him and whacked him so hard, he slammed against the wall and hit the floor. Remarkably, due to his sleeping state, he didn't feel a thing and kept on snoring! "What the heck!?!?Grrr…m$#!# I give up!" She growled as she left his room to go to the kitchen. She returned with a frying pan and spoon. She sat on his stomach and banged the frying pan repeatedly with the spoon. But still it was not effective. She finally decided to do something else and she whispered something into his ear repeatedly. She whispered, "I'm leaving you if you don't wake up." After a few moments, the whispers got to his mind and he jumped awake, almost knocking Ai against the wall. He began to whimper, "Ok, ok, I'm awake…please don't be mad at me." He pleaded in a sad puppy dog tone. Ai just laughed and kissed him softly. "Just toying with ya! Relax!" Ai then got off him and went to the bathroom. Shinjiro shrugged and got off the floor and stretched a bit. He could feel the bruise coming in from the attack that Ai made.
James sat on the table eating his breakfast and reading the paper. Agumon was sitting on his cushion eating the meal that his master made. Agumon began to lap and slurp at the plate till it's clean. James just watched his digimon and raised his left eyebrow. "Man, you're starting to be really 'big' Agumon!" James joked. Agumon responded with a fireball at James. The paper caught on fire and James had to grab a fire extinguisher. James sprayed the fire extinguisher all over his dining table, all over his food, and pretty much anywhere that caught sparks and burst into flames. It was a serious mess. "opps…heh…heh" Agumon laughed nervously. James spent the next 30 minutes chasing Agumon around, trying to bash his skull open with the spent fire extinguisher. "Sorry! I got really bad aim!" Agumon whined as he ducked when James took a swing. "Besides you started it!" he continued, and then jumped as James tried to sweep him off his feet with the extinguisher. The two companions went at it for the next two hours.
Sora was feeling extra eager to go see James. She got dressed in a pretty outfit. It was a red t-shirt, a short but not too short skirt, and a nice bluish jacket around her waist. "I hope James likes this!" she thought as she put adjusts the jacket around her waist. "C'mon Biyo! We're going to go see James." Her digimon followed Sora out of her apartment and onto the streets. As Sora approaches James's residence, she noticed something flying out his window. It was one of Agumon's fireballs that apparently missed a target. The fireball hit and turned a pigeon into something Colonel Sanders would make, and it hit the ground with a thud. "What's up with Agumon today?" Sora asked. When she looked at Biyomon, she noticed her friend was a little nervous from what the fireball did to the pigeon. "Oh c'mon! You're tough, those fireballs can barely hurt you!" Sora commented as she walked on, with Biyomon trotting behind her, trying to get under some cover when she finds any.
James stepped out the balcony and looks at the burnt pigeon on the ground. "Well, at least you HIT something, so that wasn't a total loss." He then noticed that Sora and Biyomon were approaching the front door of the condo. James panicked and went inside, yelling at Agumon to help him clean up the mess since Sora and Biyomon are coming up to their apartment. Agumon, hearing James mentioning Biyomon, fell into a daze. James was scooping up some of the white powder from the extinguisher when he saw Agumon sitting there dazed, with saliva trickling out his mouth. James threw a spoon at Agumon and then yelled at him to hurry up and help him. Agumon got up and helped clean up the place, while rubbing the spot on his head that the spoon hit. "Ugh! Alright, alright!"
When the elevator stopped on James's floor, Sora and Biyomon walked out to hear sounds of shuffling feet behind James's door. Sora walked over to the door and rang the doorbell. Inside, James began to panic more and gave Agumon some final orders. They scooped up the last amount of the powder and dumped it off the balcony. Sora and her digimon waited outside. They could hear James shouting and panicking. Sora giggled, she knew that James and Agumon had been unprepared or something. After they cleaned up the last speck of dirt, James and Agumon composed themselves. After taking a deep breath, James opened the door. When he saw Sora, he gasped. The outfit she was wearing was really catching his attention. "Wow, you look really pretty today!" He complimented.
Although James and Agumon had did a lot of work to clean up what they could in such short notice, Sora could still see some things they left out. For one, James still has some fire extinguisher dust on his shirt and pants. Agumon was also a mess. "Did we come at a bad time?" Sora asked, and giggled. "Not at all, come in!" James offered, while he eyed Sora's outfit with excitement. Sora just trotted in, and took a seat on the couch. Biyomon walked in and gave Agumon a peck on the cheek. Agumon winced a little bit as he felt the beak poke him, but then he went into bliss soon after, as usual whenever he gets "kissed" by Biyomon. Biyomon sat on the floor in front Sora.
James poured some iced tea and served it to the girls. "So, wassup?" James asked. Sora just shrugged and told him that she just wanted to see him. James smiled, went over to give Sora a kiss on the cheek, and then spoke. "Well, let's go shopping, shall we? I'm sure you still have quite a bit of stuff you want from the vendors nowadays." Sora smiled, kissed him softly, and held his arm. "Ok, let's go then!" She said, and beckoned Biyomon to follow. As James stepped out the door with Sora, Biyomon trotted after them, occasionally looking back to lure Agumon to follow with her seducing eyes. Agumon just followed in a trance.
Later on that day, the couple relaxed at the food court. As Sora sipped her drink, she was resting her head against James's shoulder. James had bought her 4 bags of clothes that she liked. She was feeling extremely grateful. "He didn't really need to get those clothes for me… that's so sweet of him! I love him so much!!" She thought. Meanwhile, James was thinking about something serious, "Man, shoot… I really love her…should I do it? Yes! Yes! I will do it… I'll ask her to marry me…But not now…I still need a ring…Hmmm…" James's thought process was interrupted when Sora told him that she needed to go to the bathroom. "Ok, Sweetie!" James replied. As he watched her go to the nearest bathroom, he noticed that she frowned when she discovered the bathroom was closed for maintenance. He watched her go up an escalator and walked towards the other set of bathrooms on the other side of the mall. James looked around and noticed a Jewelry shop nearby. "That's it!" He glanced at Agumon and Biyomon on the adjacent table. They were too engrossed in their sweet nothings to notice any of their masters being gone for some time. "Ok, now's my chance to sneak into that shop." James whispered to himself.
Once inside, he quickly asked the attendant to see the engagement rings. When the attendant was behind the counter to retrieve the rings, James glanced back at Agumon and Biyomon. They still haven't noticed he was gone. "Good." James thought. The attendant called him, and he faced towards the attendant again. He looked at the rings on the counter. There were 5 rings, and the one in the center was the most beautiful, and the most expensive. "My, my. I bet she will like that one." James said as he picked it up. "Excellent choice, sir!" The attendant spoke. "Ok, I'll take this one, do you accept Visa? Please make the transaction quick, my Fiancé-to-be will be back from the bathroom soon, and I don't want her to find out what I was doing when she was away!" The attendant smirked and said he would make it fast, as he understood what James meant. James pocketed the ring box and walked out the shop, and sat down just before Sora returned. The digimon were totally oblivious about James's absence.
Later that evening, James walked Sora home. Along the way, James thought of how he was going to propose to her. He looked in the sky and noticed that there was a beautiful full moon. "Hey, let's go for a walk in the park… just the two of us. The moon is beautiful, and the park at this time is quite pleasant, with the moonlight reflecting from the pond and all…" James suggested. "Sure, Biyomon, Agumon, why not you two go home first. We'll be back in a bit." Sora told the digimon. The two digimons smiled at each other and ran off in an instant. "Mischievous little rascals." James muttered. He offered his arm to Sora, as they walked into the park.
They stopped at a bench facing the pond and the moon and stopped to admire the view. They kissed for a while and enjoyed the peacefulness. Finally, James took a deep breath and stood up. Sora looked up at him with wonder. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring box. He bent down on one knee and faced Sora, saying the big 4 words as he opened the box, revealing the stunning ring inside. The moonlight made the diamonds sparkle in the night. "Will you marry me?" Were the words Sora heard as she looked at him in amazement and bewilderment. Her heart filled with joy as she said yes. "Yes! Yes, I will marry you, James!!" She said as she jumped on him from the bench and knocked him on the ground. She kissed him deeply. She took a moment to compose herself and she then embraced him, whispering, "yes" repeatedly as she cried tears of joy.
The engaged couple walked home a few minutes later and at Sora's door, they kissed once more. "Good night honey. I love you. I'll come by some time to plan our wedding." Sora said as she went inside her apartment. James kissed her goodnight, said that he loves her, and then walks home. Inside, Sora was so happy. When Biyomon asked her what happened, she showed her the ring on her finger. "Oh, I'm so happy for you!!" Biyomon screamed as she hugged her friend.
James arrived home, and he was really glad he made the decision. When he closed the door to his home, he noticed that Agumon was already asleep on the cushion. "I guess I'll tell you that tomorrow." James got ready for bed, and went to sleep happy.
