A/N: I purposefully did not use the name of the knight. It is up to the reader to decide which knight is being written about. This was also written in the 45 minute break at work. Drabble.

Summary
: It all followed a deadly pattern, a deadly cycle, and it was accomplished with deadly accuracy.

He had washed it off; yet he could still see the blood staining his hands in his mind's eye. He was safe inside the milecastle, yet his eyes kept him out on the battlefield. When the rich irises would shut, he could feel the blood of memories splatter across his face.

The room was closing in on him, it threatened to crush him. He could feel the weight of the ceiling upon his chest. He needed to get out, he needed some space, he needed his life back, he needed to breathe.

There was only the stonework, solidified by his deep need to quit these walls, to witness his retreat. Outside was the closest to freedom he could get: a caged animal in a cage that had no boundaries. The knights could pretend all they wished, but in the end, it was only fantasy. Here in Britain, theirs lives paradoxically revolved around that cage. It all followed a deadly pattern, a deadly cycle, and it was accomplished with deadly accuracy. He wondered if their fate was meant to be forever searching for the key to their freedom, in an endless mass of blood, gore, and bodies.

He broke through the doors frantically, feeling the rush of cool night air on his face. The knight was unsure of his destination, knowing it was the desire for something real amidst the dream world they lived that spurred his feet outward. Something he could claim for sure was real, and know in his heart would never change: something constant.

And so he took off running, his footsteps silent against the stillness of the night.

The other knights merely watched, knowing when it was best to remain behind. Their comrade ran towards the woods, the black of his clothing doing nothing to camouflage him. On that night, a single falling star was headed towards the woods.

And on that night, there was no one there to catch that star.
