Daniel rushed into the emergency room still wearing his dusty fatigues from the mission he was called back from. Jack was right behind him; having driven Daniel to the Academy Hospital after Daniel was recalled back to Earth from his quick mission with SG-8.

Daniel almost crashed into the counter panting and trying to catch his breath.

"My wife… She is… is in labor… Where is she?" He asked the nurse behind the counter still trying to calm his heart and lungs.

The nurse smiled as Daniel asked her the question;; she was used to frantic fathers not giving the info she needed at first.

"What is her name sir?" She asked politely.

"Major Doctor Samantha Jackson…" He took off his jacket as the nurse looked up the information.

"She is in delivery room D8… It is on the second floor. Dr. Fraiser is already there."

Daniel's face lit up like Las Vegas when she said that. It meant he had better hurry. Saying, "thank you," Jack grabbed Daniel and rushed him to the elevator.

Granted their child was about 3 weeks early, that is why Daniel was on the mission, he was driving Sam nuts with his pacing and mothering her. She asked General Hammond to send him somewhere for a day or two. He was on the 3rd day of a 4 day mission when he was recalled because she went into labor.

"Daniel I still can't believe you and Sam didn't want to know the sex of the baby. The betting pool at the SGC is raising everyday, the whole base is split 50/50 whether it is a boy or a girl. Even the general has some money in on it. I heard the winner gets like 2000.00 bucks. Which they will donate to a charity or course…"

Daniel shrugged; "we don't care as long as he/she is healthy and happy. We got all we wanted."

They left the elevator and proceed to the delivery room where a nurse came out and spotted the dad to be.

"This way Mr. Jackson so we can get you cleaned up and ready." She took Daniel's arm and led him away.

"Jack, call the base, have them get word to Jacob. Let him know he is about to be a grandfather."

Jack nodded as he pulled out his cell phone and made the calls. After Daniel was cleaned up and had a fresh pair of scrubs on he entered the room to see Sam ready to give birth to their child. Her hair was matted back and she looked exhausted but there was still a glow about her. Her eyes lit up as she saw Daniel approaching.

"Sorry I'm late, Jack had to stop for a burger…" Sam knew that Daniel would have throttled Jack for doing that but it made her smile even more just before a contraction hit.

Sam screamed out in pain, grabbing for Daniel's hand, and squeezing it for dear life.

"Ok, Sam, Next contraction I want you to push, ok?" Janet raised her head up from her position at the foot of the bed. Because of the protein marker, Janet was the only one who could care for Sam. This was fine by everyone concerned.

Daniel felt his hand being squeezed for dear life and he did nothing but let it happen. Even though she had almost broken his hand, there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for his family.

Sam for her part was doing great, she heard Daniel saying this and other encouraging words to her as she pushed with each contraction like Janet had told her to do so.

After what seemed like forever, (in reality it was only 20 minutes), there was a loud cry from the foot of the bed. Janet stood up and with a bundle of blankets in her arms moved over to Sam and placed her new baby on her chest.

Sam pushed the blanket away and saw a pair of crystal blue eyes looking back up at her and Daniel.

"Congratulations Sam, Daniel, it is a…"

"What did I miss?" Jack came barging in the door after hearing the baby cry, cutting Janet off.
