Garfield sat in the kitchen sharpening a knife. When it was razor sharp, he plunged the knife deep into a pan of lasagna and pulled it back out. He then cleaned the blade.
"Garfield," Jon called from the next room, "Garfield, what are you doing in here?"
"Yes, Jon, I'm in here. And it's Odie's time. It's you're time too."
The lightning flashed across the sky and Odie jumped with surprise. A dark figure slips through the shadows and Odie whips around to hear the sound of heavy feet taking each step carefully on the carpet.
"You've garnered attention away from me for far too long," said the voice,"now your time is done."
A fat glob of tomato sauce plops in front of the mysterious person's feet and Odie whimpers with fear. Garfield's face and body come into view. He lunges at Odie with a large knife and misses. Odie runs to the kitchen and finds Jon hanging by a rope from the ceiling fan. Odie howls and runs to the patio door with Garfield in hot pursuit. He bursts through the door and into the rain.
Garfield steps over the threshold and into the back yard. "Time to go Odie." Garfield raises the knife and Odie howls into the night as blood flies onto the broken glass.
The Next Day
Garfield is arranging Odie's body. He puts it in the middle of the kitchen under Jon's hanging corpse. Garfield presses the knife into Jon's hand after wiping the handle. He drops it, picks up a suitcase, and walks out the door. A police car speeds up to the house and officers run in. Garfield smiles, turns and walks down the street.
The officers find Jon's body hanging in the kitchen with the knife under him. They see Odie's body and they lower their guns. As they turn to step toward the patio, the house explodes in a blaze of fire.
Garfield looks on at the cloud of flame and black smoke from the back of a taxi headed for the next town.
The End
