(A/N- Since I posted chapters 1-13 all at once, I just received my first review. lol it was so exciting! Thanks and continue reviewing!)
Harry fell backwards onto his bed and sighed. Hermione sat down next to him.
"You ok?" she asked.
"Yeah…just exhausted. I guess I slept lightly last night." He replied quietly.
Hermione slid farther up onto the bed and rested her head on his stomach. Harry ran his fingers through her hair.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," said Harry as Hermione sat up.
The door opened and Ron stepped into the room. "Hey," he said.
"Hey, what's up?" asked Harry.
"I was wondering if you guys wanted to go for a walk outside."
Harry looked up at Hermione, and she nodded. "Yeah, sure. Let's go."
The group quickly found their way outside, and had their first look at the grounds around the Order of the Phoenix. There was a river running out from the bushes at the side of the grounds and out of sight. The river was surrounded by a rocky bank that dipped down lie a trench into the ground, with the water running at the bottom. It looked like it was only about 2 feet deep at the deepest parts. The bushes seemed to completely surround the grounds, although they couldn't be sure because the lawns behind the castle we so long that you could not see the end. Quite a ways back behind the castle, they could see the Quidditch pitch. Harry smiled. At least I'll get to do some flying this summer, he thought.
"Harry," Hermione whispered quietly. Harry turned to see her pointing to the opposite side of the river bank, about 100 feet away. There was a black-cloaked figure sitting on the ground, tossing rocks into the water. He kept looking towards the castle, as if waiting for something. "Who is that?"
"Must be Malfoy," Ron said quietly. Harry nodded.
They all stood there staring at him for a few moments. Then he looked up as if sensing someone was watching him. When he spotted the trio, he quickly rose and walked off behind the castle, out of sight.
Just then Ginny came out of the castle and headed towards the river. When she spotted the group, she gave a weak, forced smile. "Hey guys." She looked around behind them, frowned, and headed towards the group. "What are you doing out here?" she asked, clearly hiding something. Ron and Hermione, however, didn't seem to notice.
Harry gave Ginny an enquiring look, but she just looked down at the ground.
"Do you guys want to go flying?" Harry asked. Ron and Ginny both nodded excitedly. "Mione? You want to?"
"I don't have a broom…" she said.
"You can use mine," said Harry.
The four of them returned to the castle to get their brooms. 10 minutes later they were heading through the entrance hall together. Harry hopped on his broom sideways and circled them slowly, only a few feet off the ground. He started to circle around just Hermione.
"Harry stop, you're making me dizzy," she said.
He pulled his broom to a stop directly in front of her and hopped off. "Come on," he said.
"What?" she asked worriedly.
"Just sit on it," he said.
Hermione looked worried. "But what if I fall off?" she asked.
Harry rolled his eyes. "I'll sit on it with you and control it. You wont fall off." Hermione still looked worried. "I promise," Harry whispered quietly in her ear.
"Well…ok." Hermione sat on the broom and Harry slid on behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and took hold of the from in front of her, and slowly bulled up on the handle, causing them to rise a few feet. Hermione tensed a bit. "Harry, don't go too high. I'm scared of heights."
Harry dropped a little, so they were only about 2 feet off the ground.
Behind them, Ron and Ginny jumped on their brooms and sped off after them.
When they reached the Quidditch pitch, Harry lowered his broom to the ground and let Hermione off. "I just want to fly around for a minute, I'll be right back, ok?" he asked Hermione. She nodded, and he kicked off the ground hard. With the wind whipping through his hair, he finally felt back at home. Since he had been banned from Quidditch the previous year and had had his broom confiscated, he had not gone flying for so long, he almost forgot what it was like. He breathed a sigh of relief and slowly headed back to the ground.
