Plastic World:

Summary: What happens when Scully gets infected with a new type of infection created by the syndicate and will Mulder be able to cope at work with Scully? More importantly, how will they both cope?

Just as things between the agents was starting to look up, another blow came in the form of a song. Mulder had decided to go home early for the second day in a row and the musty air in the basement was starting to annoy Scully's allergies. Giving up on any type of work in the dusty environment Scully contemplated doing a whole clean up Scully style. No surface area would be dusty, no files lay untidily over Mulder's desk and most importantly, Scully wouldn't have to put up with those damn sunflower seed shells.

One glance at the messy office and the idea went straight out of her head, no way would she be able to give the office a thorough clean in 2 hours. Thinking about it, she was going to make Mulder clean the office up, she had cleaned her part just the other day. Scully didn't even glance back as she walked out of the door and locked it behind her.

The elevator ride down to the car park was as entirely uneventful as usual and so Scully was able to make her way to her car undistributed. Upon reaching her car, Scully feared the worst when she sat in her seat to find a tape on her dashboard. Scully figured she had one of two options, she could get out of the car to find it had been rigged up to blow up, or she could put the tape on… Scully picked up the tape and flipped it over; it was a plain cassette tape with no note and no writing. She took it out of its case and put it on after turning her engine on. She gave a sigh of relief to find it was only a music tape.

As Scully pulled out into traffic she suddenly realised what the song that was plying was, it was called 'Barbie Girl' but she couldn't remember who sang it except that it was something like water, maybe Aqua. Scully couldn't help but sing along with the words as she found herself in a large traffic cue.

'I'm a Barbie girl, in my Barbie world.

Life in plastic, it's fantastic.

You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere.

Imagination, life is your creation'.

As the first chorus started off, Scully couldn't help but smile and turned the volume up as she gave her hair a 'bed head' look. Scully prepared herself for the next verse, she still remembered the words like she had been listening to it just the other day…

'I'm a blonde; I'm a girl, in a fantasy world.

Dress me up, make me talk, I'm your dolly.'

Instead of singing 'blonde', Scully decided to change it to red head. The timing may have been a little out but Scully couldn't really care. There were too many blonde Barbie dolls anyway and red heads were far better by her standards. The fact that she was a red head didn't make her bias she thought because they just were. As the next part came up, Scully's thoughts turned to what Mulder could be doing. Figuring he wouldn't be doing much, she decided to go to his rather than going back to hers. Not only was his house closer than hers but also she couldn't face another night at home alone.

'You can touch, you can play.

If you say, I'm always yours.

Ooh oh oh.

I'm a Barbie girl, in my Barbie world.

Life in plastic, it's fantastic.

You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere.

Imagination, life is your creation'.

Scully turned off her radio and parked her car as she found a space in front of Mulder's building. She got out of her car and quickly made her way towards Mulder's building after locking her car door.
