HOME
I opened my eyes and scanned my bedroom. Nothing seemed out of place. The remote control cars were still in the corner. My cloths were still all over my floor. My poster of the "Jack II" video game still hung on my door. Something had awoken me and I could not figure out what. From the corner of my eye I saw a glimmer of light in the crack of my closet door.
"Who's there?"
The door slowly opened and more light flowed out of the door slowly and quietly. I clutched my blanket, but did not look away from the growing, brilliant light.
"Who's there?" I asked again.
A quiet whisper brushed by my ear.
"Do not be afraid."
I shuddered. The voice was like nothing I've ever heard. It was neither man nor woman, but rather both in a way. It was soft as silk, sweet as flowers, soothing like the oceans waves, and comforting as sitting by a fire on Christmas evening.
"I know what is in your heart. I know your pain."
I felt a pain in my chest and a tear escaped my eye. All the terrible memories, my fears, my joy, my life's troubles erupted out of me in a brief instant.
"I will take care of you. I will ease your pain and bring everlasting joy and peace into your heart."
I held my head in my hands crying. Crying for my pain, crying for my happiness, crying for the life I had lived and the shame that I felt from it.
"Take me home. I want to go home." I whispered through my sobs.
Soft, gentle hands lifted me from my bed. The light pulled me in and surrounded me. A man appeared with open arms to greet me.
"Welcome home."
