Chapter 1
Away From Me

"You bastard!"

Slap.

Kai rubbed his stinging cheek, and scowled at the boy standing in the doorway before him. "Get out of the way, Tyson."

"After everything we've done, after all we've been through, you are just going to leave us? How could you, Kai?" Tyson yelled. He grabbed Kai's arm and roughly dragged the boy towards him, raising his fist.

Kai looked at the ground. "You can hit me all you want, but it's not going to change my mind," he said coldly.

Tyson growled, and shoved Kai away from him. "Fuck you, Kai. I can't believe it. I can't fucking believe it. How could you do this to the team? How could you do this to Rei?"

Kai narrowed his eyes. "Leave Rei out of this, Tyson. Now get out of my way!"

Tyson didn't move. "Rei is upstairs crying right now, because you broke up with him for absolutely no reason! What do you say to that?"

"He shouldn't have fallen in love with me," Kai hissed. "Now get out of the way before I forcibly remove you. I am going to miss my plane."

Tyson stared at him, a look of disgust replacing the anger. "That's all you have to say?" when Kai remained silent, he continued in a calmer tone. "You really are the biggest bastard I have ever had the misfortune of meeting, Hiwatari. I can't believe you would do this."

"Start believing."

"I thought you changed, Kai," Tyson whispered, "I thought that you now saw us as more than just team mates. I thought you saw us as friends. Obviously I was wrong."

Kai smirked. "Oh, I changed all right. I realized I shouldn't be spending my life hanging around with you losers. My life is going to waste staying here, and it is time I left you kids and actually did something useful. So suck it up, stop crying like a pathetic baby and let me pass!"

"Fine," Tyson spat, clenching his fists. "Leave. I won't try to stop you anymore. But don't come running back to us when all your oh-so-great plans mess up. I won't forgive you that easily."

Kai sneered. "Believe me, Kinomiya, the last thing I will do is come back to this dump."

Quietly Tyson walked to the end of the hall. Pausing before the door, he knocked softly. "Rei? Can I come in?" he sighed when he received no answer, and opened the door, walking into the dark room.

Rei was lying on his bed, curled up under the covers, shivering. He flinched slightly as Tyson sat down beside him. Slowly he raised his head to look at the other boy. "Ty?" he whispered hoarsely.

Tyson gently stroked Rei's black hair. "I'm right here, Rei."

Rei's eyes looked empty. "Did Kai…"

Tyson closed his eyes. "Yes," he whispered.

Rei rolled over onto his stomach, clutching at his pillow tightly, a tear running down his cheek. "Oh god. He left. He really left."

Soft sobs filled the otherwise silent room.

Erm... ya. Hello! Welcome to my new story Anywhere! This one will be replacing Always On My Mind, which is currently undergoing major rewriting! I will probably upload it again when I am happy with the way it is going. But until then, I hope this one will satisfy.

Also, I want to wave hello to loveisagiftuseitwisely, who reviewed Christmas Kisses and asked me to respond to her review. But... umm, since that story is done, I can't really respond there. So if you are reading this, hi! I'm glad you like my otherstory!

And please review! Authors always love comments!
