This was written for my Heero and Wufei friendship claim, for the theme "beat". Enjoy:)

Heero drummed his fingers against the desk, a steady, lazy rhythm. He'd heard the song on Duo's radio that morning, and in that way most popular songs seem to have, it had lodged itself in his brain and refused to leave. He'd been humming it, tapping it, or even singing it under his breath, all day.

"Heero," Wufei said patiently, without even looking up, "Stop that."

"Sorry," he said quickly, and stopped, looking down at the report he was supposed to be proof reading and concentrating hard.

A moment later, the tapping started again. A smile crept over Wufei's face that threatened to turn into laughter, but he swallowed it, trying to focus on his work. It was a quiet day in the office - just the light sounds of fingers on keys, of feet clicking along the hallways, a few bumps as people shifted boxes of paper, and the soft swish of traffic on the road below. So the noise of Heero's tapping fingers was quite loud. And annoying.

"Heero," he said again, less patient, and with an exaggerated sigh, "Stop that."

"Sorry," he apologised again, sitting back in his chair to put his fingers out of temptation. He focused on staying really still, reading the report, and not singing the song out loud.

A moment later, Wufei was being disturbed again by a faint hum. He glanced up at Heero this time, raising an eyebrow. "What's wrong with you today?"

"It was on Duo's radio."

"Oh," he rolled his eyes, "that explains it. But can't you control yourself?"

"Sorry," Heero said again, a little abashed.

A moment later, the tapping resumed, and Wufei looked up in annoyance only to realise that it was him doing the tapping. Heero was holding in laughter, but the small smirk on his face was telling, and it made Wufei scowl.

"You get more like Maxwell every day," he grumbled.
