Two hooded figures silently walked across the path leading up to the orphanage. The taller figure was carrying a bundle that stirred slightly; the smaller figure was crying mutely. "We're here and we must be strong." said a man's voice inside the cloak. He removed his hood revealing to be a man with short brown hair and eyes. "It's the only way Leah. "He whispered softly and took the woman's hand.Leah also removed her hood, nodded and wiped her hazel eyes full of tears. "I know Cal but...we haven't even spent time with her and this...the possibility that we may never even see her again..."Cal responded gently "It is hard...I understand and I do not want to leave her either but she will be safer...away from the danger and terror that follow us...""We have not even named her. "Leah looked at the bundle with fondness.Cal stood there and thought. "What about...Noel?" Leah smiled and whispered "Perfect"The night was slowly evaporating around them and there was not much time left."We must leave now; they are looking for us" Cal said urgently. Leah gently took the bundle from her husband and slowly parted the blankets showing a baby; the baby blinked and smiled at its mother. Leah returned the smile with sorrow. Cal touched Leah's shoulder and whispered again, this time nearly inaudible."We have to leave."She knelt, put the baby on the floor on the steps and removed a necklace that she wore hidden. "A reminder that we will always be with you" she whispered, trying to hold back more tears that were slowly falling down her cheeks. Cal helped Leah up saying "The others are waiting." She looked t him and there was determination in her eyes; she stood, swaying slightly and grasped Cal's hand. The darkness engulfed them as the fled.
