(Konnichi wa! This is loosely based on my attempt at making brownies. Some partsare in Japanese, which doesn't matter but does censureHaruka fairly well for people who don't speak Japanese...she has a dirty mouth...Please R/R and enjoy. This is a one-shot.)
Tenoh Haruka cursed under her breathe when she caught sight of her reflection in the side of the mixing bowl. Her face was covered in flour, her blonde hair showed traces of it and batter was splashed across her shirt. Maybe that, she thought smiling wryly, was why Michi-chan always wore an apron. She leaned over the mixing bowl and looked at the lumpy, dark brown batter. Was it supposed to be that lumpy? Maybe they'd look better after they were baked. Haruka leaned down to get a pan. She grabbed a square-looking metal one and went to stand back up.
"Kuso!" She slammed her head against the counter, "Kuso! Kuso! Kuso!" The pan in her hand slipped and fell, handle first, on her foot. "Boku wa baka-des!"
She picked up the pan, brushed it off and began pouring the brownie mix into it. The oven beeped loudly, startling Haruka and she spilled batter all over the counter. The lumpy batter spread quickly, dripping on to the floor. Haruka scowled at the mess and put the pan into the oven. Just as she turned back to the counter she heard the apartment door open.
"Haruka! I'm home!"
Haruka turned grinned sheepishly at her lover.
"Konnichi wa, Michi-chan. Want a brownie?"
Michiru stared at the disaster in silence, her eyes wide and mouth handing open. Haruka was covered head to toe in flour and brownie mix and her shirt was wet, presumably from spilled water or milk. The lumpy brownie batter had formed a puddle on the floor and was still dripping from the counter above. The cabinets above the counter were splattered with chocolate and the mixer sat dripping. Finally, Michiru broke down laughing.
"M-Michi-chan?"
"Did you manage to make this mess all by yourself or did you have help?"
"All by myself. The brownies should be done in...uh..."
Haruka picked up the box of brownie mix, opened at the wrong end, and flipped it over to read the direction. The unused mix fell to the ground and broke open, creating a cloud of chocolate dusting coating Haruka, Michiru and the entire kitchen.
"Haruka!"
Haruka grinned and then shrugged.
"Sumimasen, Michi-chan. Guess now we both know why you cook."
"Hai! How do you survive when I'm away!"
"McDonalds."
