Annele rode along the Rohan countryside, breathing in the air of her homeland. The land seemed so familiar yet so different. Rohan had fallen on hard times since she left when she was but a child. Annele's mother had sent her to Gondor for 10 years, when she was but a child, to learn to be a lady. Now, though she had become a lady, she had grown up a lot too. Unbeknownst to her mother, she had befriended the lords Boromir and Faramir, and they had taught her the sword. Annele smiled as she saw Edoras appear on the horizon, she spurred her horse, Lightfoot, given to her by Boromir and Faramir as a going away gift, on forward.

"Only a bit further," she whispered to the steed, as she could feel the horse's exhaustion.

As she neared the gates, they slowly swung open revealing the small village she called home.

Finally inside the gates she quickly dismounted Lightfoot and ran up to a tall young woman dressed in white. "Seems a fine day for a meeting of good friends long parted. Do you not agree, Eowyn?" Annele stated loudly.

Eowyn spun around from the man she was speaking with and gasped at the sight of her best friend. "Ann!" The two girls embraced, glad to see each other again. "My, how you have changed!" Eowyn observed good-naturedly. They had both filled out over the years, growing into their strong builds set forth by their ancestors.

"And you," Annele smiled, over-joyed to see her friend again. Then she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Could it be? Annele, the small girl who my sister formed such a bond with?" this was Eomer, Eowyn protective older brother.

"Aye, Eomer, the one and only," she replied giving him a hug as well. It was good to be home. Suddenly a man came walking up to the group, and he looked familiar, he had a round boyish face, and his eyes sparkled green. Annele remembered who this was. "Theodred?"

The man, who had been speaking with Eowyn, looked at Annele, and she could see the wheels turning in his mind. "No, she could not be," he looked to Eomer, who nodded. "Annele? My you have changed so much." In truth he could not see the small, slightly gangly girl the ran around with his cousin ten years ago. In this tall, beautiful woman that stood before him.

"Well, my friend, ten years will do that to you," she said with a smile. She turned away from Theodred's gaze, it made her feel uneasy, the good natured boy that she had been companions with was gone, replaced with a man, who had seen much more than his years would make one think. "I must go see my mother, she will be expecting me." Annele grabbed Lightfoot's reins and began to walk away.

"Wait, allow me," Theodred came jogging up beside her, and took the reins from her hands. "I would like to hear your tales of Gondor."

Annele smiled, "there is not much to tell only that I am truly glad to be home."

They walked in silence for what seemed like the longest time. Finally they reached Annele's home. She showed Theodred where the stable was and helped him unpack Lightfoot.

"Annele, tomorrow 'tis my twenty-first birthday, and we are having a celebration in my honor," Theodred rolled his eyes at this, he did not like talking about himself. "I was wondering if you would like to come?"

"I would love to."

"And I am glad." Then he turned and left.

A/N: Ya'll need to tell me if this sounds any good. I know the first chapter is short. I don't even know if I will continue with this story or not…I hate writers block. Review please! Flames will be used to set off fireworks, because fireworks are pretty.
