The Matrix: The Beginning
James White was a computer genius. He was also a powerful executive at Roncorps, the world's largest technological export company. His was a simple life such as those who designed computer software tended to be. Yes, despite his position, he still got his hands dirty with the "fun side of work".
He was never really a shy kind of guy; he just never had a way with girls. Every time he would find a nice girl at the local bar, it would turn out that they were already dating someone or married. On some rare cases, he found girls, who were single, but weren't really the type he particularly liked.
He was however; a rather picky person and this particular trait earned him a few nasty looks from the local software designers over who got rejected from "the project".
He called it "the project" because even he was unsure about what the goal of the experiment was. The main idea was that he had discovered regularity in patterns of binary language. They sounded like static when played through a conventional speaker, but the coding of the sound was all wrong because the sound should be a pattern, but it was mainly random screeching.
