Lan was a young, scrawny boy in ragged clothes.
Everyday, rain or shine, he would be on the Hyrule street corner, begging for money.
The rumor was that his mom was tired of his dad's drunken anger, ordering her around.
One night, he almost killed her.
She fled for her life.
She was heartbroken to leave Lan, but George had made it all to clear: the boy got him drinking money, so Lan was leaving over her dead body.
George had, of course, blamed her leaving on Lan, whipping him until he fainted, cold and bloody, from the excruciating pain and lack of blood.
Then Lan couldn't beg for money.
I think George busted a gut, and rumor has it, a couple Hyrule guard's heads.
Every day, I have went to Lan and gave him a couple of rupees from my allowance, and a piece of bread so he wouldn't starve.
George gave him nothing to eat, but that is all my family could spare.
But that is only the beginning of our troubles.
The real trouble would come one rainy night.
Lan will tell the story now, starting from the beginning…
