Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Summary: A set of Remus and Sirius drabbles.
Completed: March 29, 2005
Notes: Not knowing what she was doing, Jen inspired #2 with the first line.
(1) Beyond Words
As much as Remus loved his books filled with line after line of prose, he could never find the way to say the three little words.
He'd help with extra time on last minuet essays – even Potions (He could write it but was lost in it's practical application. Fitting really).
He'd always make sure there was an empty seat waiting after detention in front of the Gryffindor fireplace.
And every morning, he'd save the last piece of buttered toast because he knew how much he liked it.
So when it came to say it, Sirius interrupted; "I know, me too."
(2) Always
"You must forgive me Moony…I'll get on my knees and comfort you," Sirius made a lavish display of dropping to his knees in the busy entrance hall.
Remus' eyes widened, "Certainly NOT necessary."
A smirk twitched Siruis' mouth, "Much more than lip service my Moony."
Casting nervous glances at the gathering audience, Remus gritted his teeth, "Get up you prat…I'll forgive you." But never for this.
Sirius smiled, bounding to his feet and wrapping his arms around his friend, "You always will," and planted a sloppy kiss on his cheek.
"I always will," Remus sighed, under the crowd's amused cheers.
(3) After School
It was dark and dingy, and certainly in need of work. Maybe even too much for a wand to handle, but it was his and Sirius couldn't keep the smile off his face as he showed off the new flat.
"It's…you?" James squinted through a cloud of dust.
Peter just squeaked, cowering from the mess.
"You've got yourself a fine home," Remus bravely supported the fresh start his friend was striking out on his own. The Marauders were dividing.
"Ah, ah Remus," Sirius wrapped an arm around him, "We've got this. It's our home, if you'll have us."
Smiling, "'Course."
(4) Forever
He was tired and dirty and far too anxious. It should never be like this – But so much had settled between them: Thirteen years, anger, doubt, who knows what else cancelled their time of love, laughter, smiles.
Who knew what would be waiting on the other side of this door.
Embraced with open arms?
Turned away?
Slammed in his face?
Maybe he should still stay away. Grant him the peace he surely must have reached by now. Stop stirring up the past. Just fade into memory.
But he had already knocked.
When the door opened, Remus smiled, "Come inside Sirius."
