I wrote this and then noticed I used the Canadian age of drinking, that is nineteen.
I do not own Stardew valley this is just my love for it.
This story has mature themes, alcohol, drugs and sexual content.
It is mainly Shane, Sam, Sabastian and Abigail but I tried to get the town into it.
I was playing the game again and just kind of fell in love with the people. Some parts are changed so it is not a perfect Stardew valley, it starts in the middle of spring.
"Pelican town." A husky male voice wrung out, My eye's moving from my cell phone as I spotted a small area surrounded by lush tree's. I grabbed my large purse and black suitcase and headed for the door. The smell hit me first filled with flowers and pine tree's. The bus started moving before I was even fully off as I held onto my suitcase having it land on the dirt with a thud before I watched it speeding down the wide road out of sight.
"Ass."
Avoiding a large mud pile I stepped passed a wooden fence before looking down the dirt road both ways lost at what way to go. All I could see was tree's.
"Where the fuck is the town?"
Unsure where to go I pulled out myself and called my mother wishing she was here with me, she once lived here, she would know the way. The phone wrung as I remembered her words about how she hates this place, how I was here to meet some man named Lewis, one of grandpa's oldest friends and the mayor of the town to help me settle in.
Who puts a bus stop in the middle of nowhere like this.
She never answered.
I walked for twenty minutes in the hot spring sun wishing I wore anything but black making me take off my sweater and tie it around my waist, how is it warmer here then in a packed city.
My feet were sore as I don't walk that much, I would take my mothers SUV to go down the street to a store.
A small smile crossed my face when the road turned from dirt to pretty cobblestone, I must be getting somewhere. That came with another annoyance, the sound of my suitcase bumping on every stone, Passing a small packed parking lot lightly hidden in the trees I came to a beautiful area.
There was a very large courtyard, surrounded by small black lamps and old buildings. It was quaint and quiet, spotted some kids playing to the south around a tree and some bushes. A blonde girl came from around a corner heading into a shop called "Pierre's" she looked at me before she walked in, my eye's landed on the larger building 'the stardrop saloon' I caught the tail end of some man.
I have not been in a bar for a while but I headed there any way, a place to sit down for a moment.
"Cyio Cohen?"
I paused looking back as some elderly man came from a small doctors office. His his suspenders and old man hat reminded me of the image I held in my head for my late Grandpa. His curious smile was missing some teeth but he looked friendly and kind, mostly in the eye's.
"Lewis?" I asked with a small smile and his grew.
"Look at you all grown up, what are you now 20?" I felt awkward not knowing this man that knew me but I faked a smile.
"24." I stepped towards him. "Could you point me to the farm, I would love to just settle in."
He nodded. "It is down that way." He pointed the way I came making me sigh and drop my shoulders, really? "Would you like a ride?" He laughed seeing my predicament, I gave a small smile with a nod.
"Please." I spoke with relief.
I followed him down some paths as he filled me in on the strange roads around here as this small town is very old making the roads kind of crazy as It was not placed around roads but the roads placed around it. I tried to follow his directions as he talked but it was confusing, something I need to learn by doing hands on.
I tossed my bag with ease into the back of his classic light blue truck as he opened the door for me. "It sticks." He spoke.
He tried to start a conversation with me and it came out I was just here to check out, clean up and sell my grandfather's land, he just stared at me sadly.
"Your grandfather would be heartbroken to hear that, he always wanted your mother to come back here."
"Well she wont." I don't know why. "She said she would never step back in this town again, so it is on me." I felt like that sounded rude, it has been a long journey of many busses, so I just gave him a sad smile.
He looked up with nostalgia. "I do remember seeing you as a child here a few times, you were such a chubby little thing."
"Really?" I did not have the energy to even fake a smile this time. "To bad I don't remember you." I looked out the window as he rambled about this town.
Telling me about the many festivals and tried talking it up to me, I assume to get me to stay before he changed his tone and started to talk about how the big conglomerate called Jojamart was trying to take over and destroy the nearby community center, how if they get there way the beautiful look of this place will fade and turn into a small town with no character.
He asked me to think about that when someone comes to buy.
"This place is beautiful." I spoke slightly yawning, Looking out the window I really did love it so far, I would never want to ruin a place like this. I can't let someone buy his farm to builds apartments or something, I was not a farm girl but I do love nature and this seems like an amazing setting. "Okay." I smiled seriously. "I will."
"Thank you CC." he smiled his broken smile making me smile back, this man feels like a grandpa to me and I don't know why.
"Please call my Cy, it is what everyone does." CC sounds like a child.
"But CC is so cute!"
I gave him another fake smile as I watched the forest move, the sound of birds was amazingly strong out here I could hear them over the loud truck.
He pulled into a dirt path being overtaken by grass but you could see it was a road before he came to a stop. "This is the farm, passed this fence is your new home." I stepped out and grabbed my things. "Welcome to Stardew valley." He spoke as he backed up and drove away, I yelled thank you over the truck.
I walked carefully down the road, I came to the decent sized cabin looking rustic and nice. The area was filled with grass that was so high and a large forest not far away, a small pond along the fence slightly hidden but the place was filled with garbage, broken branches and a fuck ton of beer cans.
It was just a mess.
I wonder if my grandpa was a drunk or something? Something we may have had in common had I come here when he was alive. When he sent the deed to my mom I almost did but she talked me out of it. I asked her about it two weeks ago when I found the old deed. She handed it to me and told me to do whatever I wanted, sadly he has passed so long ago.
If she thinks this town sucks, it probably does, I trust in her advice, we are pretty close.
Through the tree's I could see there was more buildings to the west but I will check them out later.
The porch looked nice but the second I stepped on the stairs it crunched under me making me step carefully, it seemed to have some bad water damage. Letting go of my suitcase I dug around looking for the small package in my large purse where a note and the key's where when I noticed the door was slightly open.
I lightly pressed my foot into it and it opened. The smell of dust and old man wafted into my nose, cringing I felt up the wall like a crazy drunk man looking for the light switch. The light flickered twice before it stayed lit and I looked around.
There was no real furniture in the wide open space, a small desk covered in books and papers along the right and scattered on the floor, A small yellow colored kitchen in the top left and a broken table in the lower left corner.
I sighed at all the garbage that was in here, seemingly more then outside.
The bedroom did not have a door, just an arch way into the large room. Peering in more all it had was a small bed with some thin and questionable looking blankets. No dresser, a few scattered clothes and more garbage.
Fuck I did not bring blankets.
The two doors on either side of the beautiful stone fireplace were creaky as I looked inside. To the kitchen was a large pantry and a small washing machine. The other one was a decent sized bathroom, it had a used and disgusting red shower curtain hanging in the half bath/shower and the sink sat next to me on a large counter painted an ugly red as one cupboard door hung open and broken.
There was a small smell as I sniffed myself wondering if it was me, it was not but I did not smell that great.
Flushing I was glad to see it go down with no issues.
I pulled my stuff inside as I dug around for a towel and shampoo to get clean, I turned on the water and jumped back scared at the sputter cracking the broken sink door a bit more, out pored dirty brown water "No" I said sadly but then it started to run clean. I waited for the water to get hot but all it did was get a little warm, I just ditched my clothes and got in before even that was gone.
I felt nice as I wrapped my towel around me before I opened the door.
Wait.
I am alone, I opened the door, completely alone. I have never lived alone before, I took the towel and wrapped up my ear length hair with a smile and feeling free and naked. My heart filling with joy at the freedom even if my nice clean feet are now covered in dust and dirt.
I just looked around, what do I need to do here to make it worth looking at, the more I can fix it up the better the payout.
I need to flip this place cheaply.
This place has a lot going for it, inside was cute cabin, the doors were old and barn like. A good clean, a small paint job and with the work of a hammer it could be very cute. There was plenty of open space.
I started to feel hungry when I almost was about to hit my forehead.
I forgot to bring food.
Fuck.
I was not ready and I planed horribly for this.
Tossing on some clean but heavy clothes I went looking for his truck, something I was told would be here. I will be needing one out here. I found it behind the cabin next to a dirty silo. An old faded gray classic truck, a two seater with a small back filled with dirt and hay. It was dusty but still pretty and a nice kind of classic. Peering in the passenger seat there was a large red tool box.
I opened the drivers door and went in search of the key's.
I could not find them so I take it they are somewhere inside lost in the mess making me shut the door carefully. First things first, I need to find the key's because I am starving. I decided to explore a little and headed to the buildings hidden behind a few tree's.
I bashed my foot on a hidden stone lost in the mess of grass. "Fuck." I bounced around for a second as the shock passed.
There was a broken building, glass everywhere. It seemed like an old green house, I just walked passed it to a large brown barn. It took all my weight to open the door, the smell of dust and possibly mold was strong. I tried to find a light in the pitch black area but I couldn't so I pulled out my phone and turned on the flashlight.
The place was packed with box's and garbage bags and random junk piled everywhere, it would put a hoarders house to shame.
Another thing I checked off in my mind on what needs to be dealt with before trying to shut the door and going back to the porch. The sun was setting making me lean on the wall and watch it. This place had a weird sound at sunset, it was both beyond quiet and completely noisy. No cars or trains but bugs, loud bugs. I yawned and walked over to the bed.
I am so sleepy and I did not bring blankets.
I ditched most blankets and laid on the last one, cuddling my face into a bad smelling pillow I tossed it away and used my sweater as one. I was grossed out but ready to drop. I thought about what to do as I fell asleep. I could put it up like this and let someone else deal with it.
A feeling in my heart was that I need to be here and fix it up, I will get a lot more money.
