A/N: Written for the thursday100 journal title challenge...I took mine from vintagewreck, whose LJ title and subtitle are "even if it's just the night in my veins" and "what's the upside of this place" respectively. Cheers, mate.
Sometimes her memories are so visceral, like the ghostly sensation of short brown hair brushing its way down her sternum, that her breath sparks in her throat, her skin buzzing in confusion. It happens more often at night, when she's home alone, the quiet darkness making it that much easier for her realities to brush against each other as they uncurl inside her brain.
What's the upside of this place, she wonders, if this stillness makes a brief collision with the edge of a chair seem like the clamor of Olivia's watch, slipping down her wrist and pressing into her side? The past will not be rid, no matter where she's hidden, not even if it's just the night in her veins, whispering to be let out.
