Waiting Love

Princess Sango

Arisa shivered from the cold on the abandoned park bench and asked aloud, "Where is he?"

She was waiting for Kureno, who had called her and told her quickly that he was going to meet her on the bridge. It was past midnight and she has been waiting for three hours.

Arisa had promised him she would wait, and she was going to keep her promise. Kureno may have run into something, and that's why he's late. Yet why, there was something about him that made this hardheaded girl go soft. Arisa shivered and pulled her light coat around her, and the ironic thing is that Kureno is also a Sohma, and Tohru didn't even know him. He must have gotten lost, or maybe he stood her up, yet Kureno isn't the type to.

Arisa stood up and started to head home when a hand landed on her shoulder, "Arisa, it's me, Kureno."

Arisa turned around and looked at him and smiled, "I thought you wouldn't have come. What took you so long?"

Kureno smiled and ran his hand through his light brown/reddish hair, "I ran into some trouble, but it's okay. I still made it."

Arisa hugged him, "I thought I'd never see you again Kureno."

Kureno smiled and hugged her back, stroking her dark blonde hair gently, "I thought so too, but I don't know how long I can stay."

Arisa looked up at him confused, "Don't you love me Kureno?"

Kureno kissed her gently on her parted lips, "I love you very much, and don't forget that, but until something that only my family knows about happens, we can't be together the way we want to be."

"What is there anything I can do to help?" Arisa asked him.

"No, not even you have that kind of control, it's all up to Tohru," Kureno whispered in her ear so know one else would hear, yet no one was around either way.

"Tohru? What does she have to do with it?" Arisa asked him, clinging to his silk white shirt.

"She could break the curse, everyone believes she's the one we've been waiting for. Arisa, until then we can't be together together, not now, but in the future. Will you wait Arisa?" Kureno asked, pulling her back so he could look at her eye to eye.

"I will wait, because Kureno, you're the only one for some reason, that holds my heart." Arisa buried her head into his chest, "I love you."

Kureno looked up at the dark night sky that was gradually turning pink, "Arisa, may I walk you home? I'll walk you home, and we'll say good-bye, but it's only for now, it's only for now, it's only for now."

Arisa nodded as they started the long walk home neither saying a word. When they reached the house Arisa hugged and kissed him good-bye, "Until next time?"

"Hai, but until then here, I bought this on my way over to the park. I'll keep the key and you hold the heart, and until next time, bye." Kureno ran off after stealing a quick kiss.

Arisa had tears as she read what was engraved in the golden heart, "Only the one who holds the key to my heart can open it." She smiled and walked into her apartment, "Thank-you Kureno, thank-you."
