Takao/Kai fluffiness. My attempt at charectorizing men properly. Sort of. It doesn't do justice to the male inability to apologize and bare their hearts, so don't expect men to do this for you any time soon. X3

Love in Cliches

They were lying back to back, untouching, cold. And although Takao had nearly perfected the art of the fake sleep, many years of waking him up had taught Kai what to look for.

His breath was a little too fast, and he was just a little too tense. Kai steeled himself.

"Takao.." he started, closing his eyes and speaking to the air around him. "I didn't mean it. I didn't mean to hurt you. I guess I was just a little too tried or something..."

He reached behind his back blindly and knotted his fingers in the loose fabric of Takao's shirt. "It wasn't you. At all. I'm...sorry."

He let his breath out in a large whoosh. Sorry was definitely the one of the hardest words to say, in any language.

Takao shifted and rolled over, wrapping lazy arms around Kai's waist and nuzzled the fuzzy back of his neck.

"I know. I forgive you."

More hard words. Unwanted experience was getting them used to their use.

Kai rolled over as well and allowed Takao to nuzzle into his chest instead. He was thankful. He pressed his lips to the forehead below him, endearing the sleepy face to lift.

"Herrmmm..." Takao mumbled, blinking sleepily. Kai couldn't help but smile at that open face and kiss those lips gently, and as he did so Takao said between touches, "So what are you going to do to make it up to me?"

"You should know make-up sex is too clichéd," Kai protested, but only mildly. Takao, however, agreed.

"I'm too sleepy," he proclaimed, although he continued the almost-chaste kisses all down Kai's jaw.

"Tell me what you want then."

Takao lay back, inviting Kai to move on top of him. The now-superior boy found the thoughtful, distracted look on Takao's face rather cute, maybe because it wasn't used often. This thought set off a smirk that had the thoughtful expression turn suspicious, but Takao let it go, instead saying definitively, "I want you to kiss my burse, first, and make it all better."

"That's a cliché too," Kai said, but proceeded as ordered in lifting the cotton top and placing a tentative kiss near the yellowing spot. He cursed his temper again as Takao replied, "Not it's not; it's sweet. And cute."

Kai just grunted and resumed snuggling position with his love in his arms.

"So what are you going to do for me?" Takao yawned, blinking. He obviously wasn't going to last long.

"Well..." Kai mused, mentally scratching out and reschedule appointments. "We can go out to dinner at a nice restaurant tomorrow night."

"Go on..."

"And then a movie..."

"Mmmhmmm..."

"And then... afterwards..."

Takao laughed a little, eyes closed and this time really drifting on the edge of sleep.

"I thought you said make-up sex was a cliché..."

"I can be wrong," Kai murmured into blue hair. More hard words, but perhaps ones that were not heard this time.

As Kai was drifting off to sleep, thanking whomever up there that let him keep this angel, he thought

Apologies and forgiveness are both half the battle, but neither mean anything without love.
