She's Not You A Song-Fic

Author's Notes: My attempt to gain understanding of the Kikyo-InuYasha-Kagome mess through a song fic. I am not a big fan of triangle relationships, having been stuck in one myself. This is not a happy endings story; more of a cautionary tale really. As for a pairing I would say it is pretty much InuYasha/Kikyo in here. Sorry if I offend; I do love InuYasha; just not this kinda drama makes me mad. sigh The song I chose is "She's Not You" by Elvis. Try to keep the flames to a dull roar. I know this is not gonna make some of you very happy.

Her hair is soft and her eyes are oh so blue. The thought came without warning and InuYasha almost cursed. The problem had not come about overnight, but it wasn't as though it had been hidden from him all this time. Kagome, Kikyo, Kagome, Kikyo... One soul, two women, one confused hanyou. Argh!

When he had first met Kagome it hadn't been a problem. He'd even told her he didn't like the scent of her. But as time went on ... This happened. When did life have to be so confusing. Kikyo... He'd loved her. Still loved her. Kagome ... He never knew what to say. It was always "Sit! Sit! Sit!" He looked at her again, admiring how her futuristic garb fit her body perfectly. Instantly an image of Kikyo in her priestess attire flared to life in his mind. It suited her perfectly as well. He sighed, his mind seemingly unable to focus on one of them long enough to be at all productive. Kagome's lithe figure continued to tease him, her presence making sane thoughts difficult. .She's all the things a girl should be, but she's not you.

He noticed her then, she seemed to tell he was watching her. She broke away from the others and walked beside him, her hand linking through his. She didn't say anything, merely smiled and stayed close to him, leaving him to his thoughts yet reminding him she was there if he needed her. Memories of the times they had shared together filled his mind. She was not perfect, she was still learning her skills as a priestess. He chuckled at some of the funnier things. But his thoughts would not let him escape so easily. Priestess, Kikyo... Priestess, Kikyo... She knows just how to make me laugh when I feel blue.

InuYasha sighed and continued to walk along the forest path until the sun slowly began to sink behind the hills. They were all getting tired, he could hear it in their footsteps. Finally he suggested they settle for the night and they started to make camp. Kagome began to prepare ramen for dinner and he smiled. Ah, how he loved her food! She's ev'rything a man could want, but she's not you.

And when we're dancing, It almost feels the same... He smiled as he let Kagome show him how to dance as faint trails of moonlight slit through the surrounding trees. He could not help but remember how it felt to hold Kikyo, her head resting on his shoulder and her eyes closed. Innocent, trusting, at peace... He opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again just as quickly when he realized where he was, and with whom. I've got to stop myself from Whisp'ring your name...

As the hour grew late they sat on a log together as the fire crackled gently keeping them warm. The others were all asleep. She turned to him then, her gaxe meeting his. Moving ever closer she placed her arms around his neck gently and leaned forward. She even kisses me like you used to do.

In the distance something glistened and he caught the image of Kikyo silhouetted in the moonlight, her long black hair glistening and her eyes filled with silent pain. Even with Kagome's mouth on his, he still could not find the strength to look away. And it's just breaking my heart 'cause she's not you.

End Notes: Told you it was sad. sniffle I may add more short pieces to this so keep your eyes open. :) Hopefully they will be happier.
