Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to Harry Potter... That's all the wonderful J.K. Rowling. Bless her soul.
A/N: I have not forgotten my other story, I just have an extremely slow beta reader and I don't want a beta for this one, so I decided to put it up. I know its a short chapter and the next few will be sort of short but it's gonna be a good story. Please R & R!
Half an hour before the Hogwarts Express was due to depart, Severus Snape was strolling across the train with Lily Evans in his arms and two trunks floating behind them. He stopped outside a compartment with four boys in it. Two boys, who could pass as brothers, were playing exploding snap while a chubby boy was watching them with a sense of longing in his eyes. The fourth boy was reading until he heard footsteps in front of the door and looked up to see one of the funniest sites he'd ever seen. These were the Marauders, James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew and Remus Lupin.
Remus opened the compartment door to let Snape and Lily in. Immediately, three wands were drawn, thinking Snape hurt Lily. Snape sighted and stepped towards the bench where he set Lily and raised his wand to move her trunk with that of the boys.
"Relax Potter, she's sleeping. I brought her here so my friends wouldn't hurt her. You will take care of her, won't you?" Snape asked incredulously while covering the girl in question with the nearest cloak.
"I'd take care of her any day, Snivelus. But answer me one thing: why is she with you?" a venomous James Potter replied.
Snape sighed. "That, I'm afraid, is her story to tell and not mine. But," he pulled a money bag out of his pocket, "give her this when she wakes. I have no doubts that flower here will be hungry." He tossed the boys the bag and left.
The four boys exchanged glances and resumed there activities, James and Peter switching positions, only with James watching Lily instead of the game. Half an hour later, Lily woke not only to find herself in a compartment with the infamous Marauders, but covered with James Potter's cloak and him staring at her. When she didn't scream he moved closer to her to brush a strand of hair out of her face. Her only response was to wrap the cloak around herself tighter. He laughed.
"Cold, Evans?"
She smiled. "Yes, I'm always cold when I wake."
James cast a warming charm on her and she smiled gratefully. They were having a nice, peaceful moment when-snap-the cards exploded and she jumped.
"Oh Lily! You're up." Remus observed. "Well, would you mind explaining to us why Snape brought you to us?"
"It's a long story..." she trailed off.
"It's a long train ride, Evans." Sirius stated.
