Songfic to "Warning", by Green Day.
Freddy tries to convince Summer to live a little.
"Yo, yo, yo, Summer! What's up?" Freddy asked, coming up from behind to put his arms around her. As usual, Summer immediately pushed him away.
"Get off me, Jones," she ground out. Freddy, as always, looked a little hurt, but quickly covered it up.
"You need to loosen up, Tink," he said, "you're really going to work yourself into an early grave."
"Whatever, Jones," she answered, still not looking him in the eye. He suddenly grabbed her hand on an impulse, and dragged her downtown, Summer protesting all the way. Once there she stood, with her arms folded. "Well? What do you suggest we do now you've brought me all the way down here?"
Freddy grinned wickedly, before leaping onto a nearby wall and beginning to sing.
"This is a public service anouncement, this is only a test,
Emergency evacuation protest
May Impair your ability to operate machinery
Can't quite tell just what it means to me-"
"What are you doing?" shrieked Summer.
"Loosen up, Tink!" he yelled down to her. "You know the song, don't you?" She nodded warily. "Then sing with me! It's your song!"
"It is not! It's by Green Day!"
"For goodness' sake, Tink! Listen to the lyrics!
Keep out of reach of children, don't you talk to strangers
Get your philosophy from a bumper sticker-"
"That's nothing to do with me!"
"Just listen, Tink!
Warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Without. Alright."
"I still don't get it!" she called up to him, exasperated. "It means nothing! It's a song! And come down from there!"
"No!" he yelled back. "You come up here! And songs mean a lot; what about Step Off, huh? Huh?
Better homes and safety-sealed communities
Did you remember to pay the utility?" he continued, really belting it out now.
"Caution: Police line, you better not cross.
Is it the cop, or am I the one that's really dangerous?
Sanitation, expiration date, question everything
Or shut up and be a victim of authority!"
It was suddenly as though a light-bulb went off over Summer's head. She climbed up on top of the wall and wobbled over to Freddy, who grabbed her hand and brought her closer to him. "I won't let you fall, Tink," he murmured into her ear, and she shivered as she felt his breath tickle her hair slightly. "Now come on!" he yelled, with an abrupt change of tone.
"Warning! Live without warning!
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Without. Alright!"
He frowned when Summer still said nothing, but didn't get put off and swung into the second verse.
"Better homes and safety-sealed communities
Did you remember to pay the utility?
Caution: Police line, you better not cross."
Summer joined in, tentatively at first, but soon her voice got stronger.
"Is it the cop, or am I the one that's really dangerous?
Sanitation, expiration date, question everything.
Or shut up and be a victim of authority!"
They were both yelling it out now, as though daring the passers-by to say anything, as though it was a personal message for each and every one of the people.
"Warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning
Say warning. Live without warning," they finished, and on impulse Summer kissed Freddy, who drew her closer.
"This is a public service anouncement, this is only a test," quoted Katie to finish off the song, smiling slightly from where she'd watched the whole thing.
A nice bit of fluff for you all! Awww! Please review this little pointless fic. For meee!
