Challenge/Prompt Information: Fragments Of A Former Time: The Dementors' influence didn't just remind Harry of his parents deaths; they also brought back memories of a past life
Rules: NO Harry-is-Founder stories;
Harry must somehow be able to acquire the knowledge/powers of his past life;
All affinities are welcome;
Throughout the story, flashbacks show the 'past life's' POV and what happened to them;
Author's Note: So, this is an idea inspired by a pretty classic trope in PJO fanfiction, but, unlike them, I decided to put a HP spin on it and then, well, let's just say weird became crazy, then insane, then destructively-end-of-the-world-maddening until, finally, I cracked.
So…welcome to the Madness…enjoy your stay!

Prologue: A Strange Feeling Inside
Somewhere…Somewhen…
Darkness…
That was the first thing he felt, not that he wasn't familiar with it, mind you.
He was born to darkness, moulded by it; he did not see the light until he was already a man and, by then, it was nothing to him, but blinding!
Hmm…something about those words made him smile, but he didn't know what it was.
Ah well…maybe one day…

Another Time…Another Place…
Pain.
Pain was an old friend for him, but, this time, the pain was beyond anything that might be called the touch of an old friend; every fibre of his being felt like it was on fire, bringing him out of the darkness that he so loved and was nurtured by, until the light greeted him, and with it, he felt the pain.
It ripped at his mind, carved open his heart and sat in his soul, made his blood burn and freeze, only to burn and blister all over again.
Over all this, he was dimly aware of a voice.
One that should be familiar to him, but he couldn't figure out why.
"You…will never be…a God…"
Then, he fell…

"Dad?"
"What?"
Thirteen-year-old Harry James Potter snapped his eyes open as a familiar voice greeted him; as he looked around, trying to get his bearings and figure out what he saw, his lips moved, as though of their own accord, as he responded to the voice that had asked him a question.
"I saw…my Dad…but that…that's impossible!"
"Harry…"
Looking to his left, Harry saw his best friend, maybe even his nearest-and-dearest of friends, Hermione Jean Granger, looking at him, her eyes filled with fear, worry, dread and darkness as she sat next to his bed. A quick glance around also told Harry that he was lying in a bed in the Hospital Wing, his home away from home – not that he'd ever call Durzkaban a home, mind you – with curtains drawn around his bed, and his dear friend, ever loyal, ever faithful, ever-there by his side.
"Hermione…" said Harry, slowly rising to a sitting position.

As he did so, however, something about his dear friend's name made his mouth feel weird; in fact, the name felt like he was speaking the identity of a stranger, while, as he looked at her, Harry also felt his heart skip more than a few beats, while his body felt warm, strong and, dare he think it, aroused, as he took in the vision of brown-haired loveliness that was Hermione Granger.
Yes, she might have large teeth, wild hair and an obnoxiously-bossy attitude.
But, in that moment, Harry felt like he was looking at her and seeing the beautiful creature slumbering beneath the ugliness.
And what he saw…he hungered for…

"Harry?"
Shaking his head as he looked back to his dear friend, Harry saw Hermione smiling sadly before she looked down at a watch on her wrist, the sight of which honestly confused Harry, given technology wasn't meant to work around magic – much to the chagrin of those born to non-magical parents, as well as their Half-Blood peers – before, returning her attention to Harry, Hermione smiled and nodded once.
"Trust me?"
"Always," said Harry, before he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him, forcing him back to a lying position, though not before Hermione steadied him, easing him down, teasing his raven-black hair softly between her fingers as she leaned down and whispered in his ear.
"Don't fight the feeling, Harry…let it all come out…I'll be here when you do…"
Before Harry could ask what she meant by that, the doors to the Hospital Wing opened, revealing Albus Dumbledore, the sight of whom made Harry feel really cold inside, all of a sudden.
When he looked at Dumbledore, he thought of the man's blue eyes.
And when he thought of the eyes, he heard a voice echo through his mind.
"You will NEVER defeat me…you will NEVER be…a God…"
The scary part?
Harry had no idea why the Headmaster made him feel this way.
So, a short opening chapter and, wow, talk about spooky…kind of appropriate for the time of year, no?
Anyway, what in the name of sanity did Harry see while his body was in a sleeping state?
Was it a dream? A vision? A premonition? Or something else…something…more?
Also, what in the name of Weirdness is going on with Hermione and why does she make Harry feel more-confident, and more-attracted to her, than he's ever felt around her before?
Keep Reading to Find Out
Next Chapter: Hermione's got a secret to share, but Harry's got something else on his mind…literally; as well as trying to save Sirius, he must now deal with strange headaches, and images, thoughts and feelings he knows-not-where-they-come-from…or when!
