Words to Woo Charlie:

Todd sat on his bed with his notebook and a pencil, thinking about what he was to write. After his on-the-spot poem, Mr. Keating had asked him to write another and hand it in- reassuring him that he wouldn't have to read it in front of the class. Knowing that he wouldn't have to present it, Todd agreed even if he wasn't really sure he could pull off a good poem.

The door then opened, making Todd jump slightly. Charlie Dalton stepped into the room with that same self-assured and amused smirk that he seemed to always wear.

"Anderson, where's Neil?" Charlie made an almost dramatic show of looking around the rather small room.

"Um, I believe asking Meeks for more help in Latin." Todd wrote a single word on his paper, making him feel quite proud though the word happened to be "the". How could Todd possibly concentrate now that Charlie was here? Hopefully the other boy would leave soon.

"Ah." Charlie looked at Todd's notebook with a raised eyebrow "What are you working on?"

"A-a poem. Mr. Keating wanted me to write one."

With three steps and a swing of an arm, Charlie grabbed the notebook out of Todd's hands and looked at the near blank page. Todd's protest died in his throat at Charlie's next, and sincere, words.

"Need help?"

Looking almost helplessly at his hands, Todd gave a weak nod. "I-I was having some trouble.."

Sitting on the edge of Todd's bed, next to him, Charlie placed a hand over Todd's eyes. Having his voice at a kind of whisper, Charlie imitated Mr. Keatings voice "Say the first words that come to mind."

"Hot.." Todd gulped visibly, not sure how Charlie would react but hey, he said the first words "..and passionate like he. Like the fire that burns in his eyes. How beautiful they are. Gorgeous like he. Fair and far. Much like the sunrise on the horizon. The one that I could never catch."

After he was finished, Todd immediately wished he could take it all back. The silence was getting to him and the warm hand of Charlie Dalton was still over his eyes. Now, in just a few short moments, he would be hit, humiliated, and be made an outcast. What was he thinking when he said those words? Oh that's right, he wasn't! This was the reason why he hardly spoke to anyone!

Of course, his thoughts were immediately cut short by a pair of lips on his own. After the shock wore off, Todd kissed back and that's all they did until they obviously needed air. Charlie finally took his hand off of Todd's eyes and the young Dalton had a thousand-volt smile.

"Flattery will get you everywhere."

Mr. Keating stopped in the middle of the hall when he saw Todd running towards him. The shy boy looked a little ruffled and was smiling brightly as he handed him a rumpled piece of paper.

"Thank you, sir." And with those words, Todd ran off back towards the rooms.

Curious, Mr. Keating looked down at the piece of paper. Upon reading the poem, he had to chuckle amusedly.

"Should have warned them; language woos men too."
