(Original Poetry/Angst)
Too Late
There is nothing left
The look he'd given her after her vicious outburst was sad, regretful. But he'd said nothing. Just turned and walked away without a second glance.
Just dark shadows falling
She sat in darkness as acute loneliness claimed her.
Onto hard ground
The world was suddenly crashing down around her.
No whispers in the trees
Everything was frozen, stilled. Even the beating of her heart.
Not a hint of a breeze in the night
There is nothing left
All he'd ever done was give. All she'd ever done was take.
The hollow void echoes
But he'd give no more. She'd made sure of that. And it left her aching.
With unanswered questions
She had denied the feelings insider of her. Afraid to answer the questions her heart was asking.
Lost feelings and emotions
She was numb. Drained.
Denial
Pain
Sadness
Emptiness
A shell of my former self
Nothing made sense now that he'd gone. She felt empty.
Humbled, I'm on my knees
She'd done nothing but cause him grief since the day she met him. The pain washed over her in waves.
I stumble forward into the unknown
He always had her back. But now her rock, her saviour, her best friend was gone.
Toward paths I have yet to tread
So much left to do. So hard to breathe. So alone.
Alone and cold
There was warmth once
They had connected. Sharing the pain of their loss.
Comfort, acceptance and understanding
He'd understood. He'd been there. It was as much a part of him as it was of her.
As a shelter encasing me
He'd taken her in his arms and brushed away her tears.
But the cocoon was a fake
But she'd made him go. Pretending she didn't care.
And the butterfly died within
The womb is barren
Her life had lost its meaning.
Save for the dull ache of a life devoid of joy
Her inspiration now a whisper on the wind, somewhere unknown. Gone.
No chance for a future
She'd sent away the one person who was her equal. Who saw her. She'd blown her chance.
Together with the one I love
It could have been wonderful with him. She knew that now.
For I realised it a little too late.
