If We Could Get Further Away

Kingdom Hearts

Foreversapphire

This is a one-shot, for the beginning of Kingdom Hearts. I really hope you like it, so read and review, please! The title is from the lyrics of Rurouni Kenshin. The song's been playing in my head, so I had to write something to go along with it!

Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts!

They always sat around everynight, on the same tree. This night wasn't any different. But the mood was.

"We've got to leave tonight." The older boy said. He listened to the ocean tide.

"You say that every night, Riku!" The younger boy layed back.

The girl listened to them. Lost. But not forgotten.

"What do you think, Kairi?" Sora asked with a soft voice.

"...We can't leave." She looked at her feet.

"But why not? We've been planning for so long!" he didn't seem the least bit upset.

It was quiet. A happy kind of quiet, though. No worries, sunshine and peaceful happiness. Lost in memories.

The girl closed her eyes. She didn't want that to change. (Well, running around everyday in tight skimpy clothes on your own personal island. Think about that!) It had been enough when she first moved there. For things to change once again would be... but sometimes... you can't control it.

They watched as the sun slowly set. An orange haze shone on their faces. No one answered Sora's question. They didn't need to. They could just... almost read each others minds. That's why things weren't meant to change. They all felt it.

"Lets go home." all three of them said it, but it was Sora's voice.

They walked around to their houses. Normally, they would be chasing each other, running in laughter. But not today. The mood was too different. Because they knew - they felt that tonight, this moment, would change their lives forever.

That night, Sora lay in his bed. He thought about his life on the island. He didn't want to cry. He didn't. He just thought he would.

The storm brewed outside. He didn't want to. But this time he did. Sora shot up and yelled out. "The raft!" He left his room. He never would say goodbye.

"Kairi! Riku!" No! he thought. I'm not ready.

"But you are..." Sora heard a voice. He spun around. No one was there. He panicked.

"Where are they?" was the only thing that ran through his mind.

Laughing shadows pulled him down. No!

Sora spotted him. Alone. Moron!

"Riku!"

Everything blacked out to him. He heard Riku speak, but it was over, he knew.

He didn't want to join him. He was trying to pull him into his senses. But the darkness swallowed him, and he was gone.

Sora knew it was no use. He battled his way to Kairi. He had tears in his eyes. No... he wanted adventure. He had to be more careful of what he wished for.

Too late.

Everything was a blur to him now.

Even when he found Kairi. But it wasn't her. Just lies. And then the door opened.

We're in your heart, Sora.

Sad ending? Don't wory! We know they find each other. Did you like it? Tell me what I can do to improve! I know it was short, but I prefer to get the point across in a good story, then to bore everyone, when you know that you can't write anymore! Review, please! Thanks!
