Sunday Night HEAT: 6/9/1998
Sunday Night HEAT was live at the New Haven Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut. The show opened with a match between Gangrel and Dick Togo of Kai En Tai. Togo gets a little offense, but Gangrel dominates as scores the pinfall with his finisher.
Marc Mero sent in a home video of himself awarding Jacqueline with a new swimsuit competition trophy since she smashed her last one over Sable's back.
Steve Austin is in the arena. Or rather drinking a beer outside the arena next to a production truck.
Ken Shamrock and Bradshaw fought for a few minutes before Vader jumped in the ring and attacked Bradshaw. Bradshaw was able to retaliate and trade punches with Vader. After Vader left, Shamrock learned that he lost by disqualification and got pissed.
Jesse James faced Dennis Knight, but Jeff Jarrett interfered. X-Pac jumped in and a pier six brawl broke out.
Kane, the Bladewolf and the Undertaker are walking backstage. They will take on LOD 2K and Brian Christopher in a six-man tag team match.
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
The crowd pops at the sound of the wolf howl, which is then followed by the sound of a bell tolling as the lights dim to the signature dark blue of the Undertaker, who's theme plays. The pyro on the stage explodes and the crowd comes unglued as the Undertaker, the Bladewolf and Kane walk out together.
"Will you look at that?" JR said as the Brothers of Destruction make their way down the ramp. "Will you look at those three 7 footers. 325 lbs apiece. And last night on RAW, it looked like the scene of a bad car wreck, perpetrated by the Undertaker, the Bladewolf and Kane. Bodies were left lying everywhere. It all happened after Mr. McMahon literally called these men... wussies."
"Well, that's not exactly what he called them, JR. I wouldn't be PC on this show, but Vince McMahon, the genius he is, definitely stirred the pot." Shane said. The Brothers of Destruction enter the ring, Undertaker setting the lights back to normal.
"The powers these three brothers possess are absolutely unearthly." JR commented. "You can feel the presence of these three... human beings, for the lack of a better term."
Kane raises his arms before he throws them down, causing the fire to explode from the turnbuckles as the Undertaker's theme dies down. Brian Christopher's theme hits and he comes out, hesitantly making his way down to the ring.
"Boy, this match is not gonna be for the weak of heart.2 JR said. "And there you see Brian Christopher; he's hesitating to approach that ring and I don't blame him. Brian Chrstopher will be teaming with LOD 2K, Animal and Droz, to take on these three destructive brothers."
Christopher stops halfway down the ramp and LOD 2k's theme hits before the duo of Animal and Droz walk out and start making their way down to join their teammate. The trio enter the ring and face off with the Brothers of Destruction.
"Well, Shane, I'll guarantee you one thing. It seems your dad did a good job in provoking these three brothers." JR said.
"Well absolutely, that's the master plan." Shane nodded. "I believe that's the master plan. I'm pumped up. The Undertaker, the Bladewolf and Kane, unbelievable wrecking machine here in the World Wrestling Federation. I should say, JR, it's part of the master plan and we're gonna find out tonight from Vinny Mac himself."
LOD's theme dies down as Droz and Kane remain in the ring while their respective partners get out onto the ring apron. So it will be Kane starting off for his team, and Droz starting off for his team. The referee calls for the bell.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
Droz attempts a lockup but Kane boots him in the gut, then delivers a sharp uppercut to the man's chin which knocks him back. Kane hits another uppercut, sending Droz against the ropes. Kane grabs Droz and rams his head off the top turnbuckle in the corner. Kane then delivers a right hand to the face of Droz, before he Irish whips him across the ring, runs and clotheslines him in the corner. Kane then rebounds off the ropes and delivers a big boot to the side of Droz' face in the corner, knocking the man down.
Kane walks over and grabs Droz and Irish whips him off the ropes. Kane bends down to launch him but Droz stops himself and delivers a kick to Kane who snaps upright and stares at him, tilting his head. Droz rebounds off the ropes, only to come running straight into a huge clothesline by Kane. The Big Red Monster bounces off the ropes and goes for a running elbow drop but Droz moves out of the way.
"And Kane couldn't connect the elbow to Droz." JR said. "Man, this is a real war here and... and Droz, a young rookie, with the experienced Animal of LOD."
Droz gets into the corner as Kane gets to his feet and runs at him, only for Droz to kick Kane in the face. Droz runs and tries to clothesline Kane but he only made the Big red Machine take a step back. Droz backs up before he charges at Kane and this time he manages to take Kane down with a tackle of sorts.
"He took him off his feet!" Shane exclaimed. "Droz took Kane off his feet!"
"But Kane sits right back up." JR said as Kane did just that and gets to his feet.
"Droz is tough. Droz is still in there..." Shane trails off as Droz tags in Brian Christopher and Kane tags in the Bladewolf.
"Droz making the tag to Brian Christopher who does not want to get in the ring." JR said as Christopher argues with LOD and the referee, while Bladewolf just stands and watches. "Bladewolf... just watching with those dark eyes behind that mask."
Bladewolf gets impatient before he storms over, shoves the referee aside and punches Animal and Droz off the apron before grabbing a shocked Christopher and pulls him into the ring.
"Well if he's not going to come in willingly, the Bladewolf is gonna fix that." Shane chuckled.
"The Bladewolf, current Intercontinental Champion." JR said as Bladewolf drags Christopher into the corner and starts stomping away on him. "He won the title back in May and has held it since then, beating all challengers."
Bladewolf delivers a huge right hand to Christopher's head before whirling on the referee who was trying to warn him off from his repeated attacks but at him whirling on the referee, the ref backed up in fear. Bladewolf then returns his attention to Christopher, runs and drives his boot into the chest of Christopher.
"Ouch." Shane winces.
"That's 310 lbs ramming itself into Brian Christopher's chest." JR said.
Bladewolf pulls Charistopher to his feet and wraps his right arm around the top rope before pulling on it, causing Christopher to yell in pain as the referee starts to count before Bladewolf delivers a huge right hand to the shoulder joint of Chirstopher, causing him to clutch it in pain as he fell to his knees. Bladewolf grabs Christopher and launches him across the ring.
"Wow!" Shane exclaims.
"The power of the Bladewolf! Just launching Brian Christopher like he weighed nothing!" JR said.
Christopher crawls over and tags in Animal quickly, rolling out the ring as Animal enters the ring and faces off with Bladewolf who uppercuts Animal before bringing him over to his corner where he tags in the Undertaker.
"Bladewolf, tagging in his big brother." JR said.
Undertaker comes in and delivers a boot to Animal's stomach as Bladewolf gets out onto the ring apron. The Undertaker delivers a right hand to the forehead of Animal, then Irish whips him off the ropes and goes for a punch but Animal ducks it, rebounds off the ropes only to get taken down with a big boot by the Phenom.
"Oh! There goes! There goes Animal!" Shane said.
"Big boot right to the face by the 7ft man that came within an eyelash of becoming the WWF Champion again. And you gotta wonder who's the new #1 Contender here." JR said as Undertaker pulls Animal to his feet, Irish whips him and tries another punch but Animal ducks it, bounces off the ropes but gets taken down with a clothesline by the Undertaker, who then bounces off the ropes and attempts a running elbow drop but Animal moves out the way, causing Undertaker to hit the mat.
Animal grabs the Undertaker and attempts an Irish whip, but the Undertaker reverses it, only for Animal to come back and take the Undertaker down with a flying shoulder tackle. Animal crawls over and hooks the leg.
"One!"
"Two-!"
Undertaker kicks out at two.
"Almost." Shane said.
"Near-fall by Animal." JR nods.
Animal grabs the Undertaker's arm and twists, pushing the Phenom up against the ropes where he drives his knee into Undertaker's stomach, then drives his shoulder into the Undertaker's gut while keeping him on the ropes. animal goes for an Irish whip but Undertaker reverses and Animal runs at the ropes, only for Kane to hit him from behind.
"What a shot." JR said as Animal shouted at Kane. This allowed the Undertaker to take Animal down with a shot to the back of the leg. "The Undertaker going downstairs, right on the knee."
The Undertaker grabs Animal's leg and holds it up before he brings his elbow down on it, then does it again, then does it for a third time before he proceeds to go for Knee bar submission move, causing Animal a huge amount of pin as the knee had already been targeted.
"That's a position you don't want to be in." Shane said.
Suddenly the crowd starts booing as Vince McMahon walks out, watching the action. Animal taps out to the Undertaker's Knee bar, but the Phenom refuses to let go which causes Droz and Chrsitopher to come in and attack the Lord of Darkness.
'Ding! Ding! Ding!'
The Bladewolf and Kane come in and grabs Droz and Christopher by the throats respectively. The two brothers lift them up... AND PLANT THEM WITH DOUBLE CHOKESLAMS!
"Double Chokeslams! Double Chokeslams by the Bladewolf and Kane!" JR exclaimed. "More carnage! And Mr. McMahon enjoys it."
Kane and the Bladewolf kick Droz and Christopher out of the ring before watching their brother continue to wrench the knee of Animal in the knee bar. The Undertaker eventually releases the hold and that's when Kane and the Bladewolf starts stomping away on Animal while the Undertaker watches.
"Now the Bladewolf and Kane, like a pack of hyenas, attacking Animal." JR said as Bladewolf gets to a knee and hammers away on Animal while Kane stomps on Animal's stomach.
Bladewolf and Kane eventually stop their assault and stand with their older brother, staring straight at Vince who looks gleeful at the carnage they have caused. Vince gives them a wave before he goes backstage as the Undertaker's theme plays and HEAT goes to commercial break.
Later
Edge gets a solid victory over Taka Michinoku. Edge than leaves via the crowd.
"Oh my God, would you look at this." JR said as the camera showed the Bladewolf and Kane dragging Pat Patterson & Gerald Brisco to the ring with the Undertaker leading the way.
"Oh no." Shane said. "Oh come on..."
"The Brothers of Destruction, with the Stooges of Mr. McMahon in their grasp." JR said.
Kane and Bladewolf toss Briscoe and Patterson into the ring and enter with their brother, keeping an eye on their victims as the Undertaker grabs a microphone. Bladewolf grabs Patterson by the throat, and Kane grabs Briscoe by the throat.
"McMahon, you've got ten seconds to get out here or my brothers are going to dismantle both of your top stooges." Undertaker threatened.
"Well, the Undertaker, Kane and the Bladewolf...want that master plan now." JR said.
"Ten." The Undertaker started, the crowd joining in. "Nine. Eight. Seven."
'Six. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.' The crowd finished and Vince did not come out.
"Mr. McMahon is not gonna come out here and save Briscoe and Patterson." JR said.
Keeping to their word, the Bladewolf and Kane start assaulting Patterson and Briscoe respectively.
"Do you blame him?!" Shane asked.
Undertaker takes his shot in on Patterson, while Bladewolf and Kane focus on Briscoe. They Irish whip him off the ropes and take him down with a huge double clothesline.
"Oh God!" Shane exclaimed.
"What a clothesline!" JR added. "This is absolute destruction!"
Bladewolf presses his knee down on Briscoe, watching as Ka ne gets some stomps in on him, then they switch positions and Bladewolf takes his shots in on Briscoe before he finishes with a running elbow drop to the chest of Briscoe.
"Two of Mr. McMahon's most trusted men are being taken apart by the Brothers of Destruction!" JR exclaimed. "They want answers on this master plan."
Kane and Bladewolf grab Briscoe by the throat, as Undertaker grabs Patterson. The brothers lift their victims up... AND HIT TRIPLE CHOKESLAMS! The Undertaker's theme plays before the brothers take their leave and walk up the ramp to the back and HEAT goes to commercial break.
Later
After D'Lo Brown successfully defended his European Championship against Val Venis, Vince McMahon came out to the ring before the commercial break. Now, the show was back from the break and Vince was in the ring with a microphone in hand while the crowd was booing him.
"Well, many of you must be wondering why Vince McMahon is wearing black..." Vince began. "Actually, I'm wearing black because I'm in mourning. Yes, Vince McMahon is in mourning. I'm in... what's that?"
'Austin! Austin! Austin!' The crowd chanted.
"You too will be in mourning, soon enough." Vince continued.
"Crowd chanting for Stone Cold Steve Austin." JR said.
"I'm in mourning because on September 27, Stone Cold Steve Austin's reign as the WWF Champion will die." Vince said, getting boos from the crowd. "And in a moment, I will be further addressing Stone Cold Steve Austin, but right now, Undertaker..."
Vince trails off as the crowd chants 'asshole!' at him.
"Undertaker, I understand you, Kane and the Bladewolf are looking for me." Vince said. "I'm obviously not too hard to find."
The Undertaker's theme hits and the pyro explodes before the Brothers of Destruction make their way down to the ring and Vince quickly exists, staying well away from the brothers who were annoyed with him enough as it is. However, Vince was quick to speak once the brothers were in the ring.
"I know you can destroy me within the blink of an eye, I'm just asking for one thing." Vince said. "I want to apologize. I want to publicly and humbly apologize for my remarks to you Undertaker, to you Kane and to you Bladewolf. There's no question now on anyone's mind, you are the single most destructive force in the history of the World Wrestling Federation. And I apologize for my remarks, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Undertaker, I truly believe that you deserve another opportunity to be the WWF Champion. I do, I believe, Undertaker, you deserve a rematch. And Kane, you're equally destructive Kane. Kane, you deserve an opportunity to once again wear the World Wrestling Federation Championship. And Bladewolf... I know it was me that denied you your rightful rematch for the World Wrestling Federation Championship, because I believed you didn't deserve it then but you've changed my opinion on you these past few months. You've been the most dominant Intercontinental Champion that I've ever seen and I think you deserve to have a rematch for the title that Austin took from you at Unforgiven, and I believe you deserve to hold the WWF Championship and the Intercontinental Championship at the same time."
The Brothers of Destruction shared looks, wondering if this was some trick by Vince at him trying to flatter them and compliment them.
"And the only thing right now missing from this equation is the current WWF Champion." Vince said. "And Stone Cold Steve Austin, if you have the guts to come out here and stand before Vince McMahon..."
"Uh-Oh." JR said.
"Come on down!" Vince said.
Not a second later, Stone Cold Steve Austin's theme hits and the crowd were on their feet as the WWF Champion walks out and starts making his way down towards the ring.
"Here he comes!" JR said. "The Rattlesnake is not afraid of any living being. There's the man. The WWF Champion. Is this some sort of elaborate trap?"
"It's the master plan, JR." Shane said.
"Well, what is the damn master plan?" JR demanded.
"I think we're about to find out here." Shane said.
Austin enters the ring, as does Vince. The Bladewolf, Kane and the Undertaker are staring down Austin who stares back unflinchingly as the WWF Champion's theme dies down. Austin stared at Vince who stared back.
"Austin, for the life of me, I have no ide what these fans see in you. I haven't a clue." Vince said. "I have no idea why they stand behind you. The fact of the matter is, you've disrespected Vince McMahon for the very last time. Let me tell you something, you've mocked my authority for the very last time, pally. There's no, absolutely no redeeming, social or otherwise any value whatsoever that you bring to the World Wrestling Federation. Not one! And that's why, Austin, on Sunday September 27, you're going to defend the World Wrestling federation Championship... against Kane!"
"Wow, Kane beat Austin for the title once before." JR said as the Undertaker looked displeased in hearing this while Bladewolf clenched his fists.
"And let me tell you something else, Austin, on September 27th, you're going to defend the WWF Championship... against the Undertaker!" Vince revealed.
"What? Two matches?" JR asked.
"And Austin, on September 27th... you'll defend the WWF Championship... against the Bladewolf!" Vince revealed, pointing to the man himself who tilted his head like Michael Myers.
"Let me break it down for you, Austin. It's real simple." Vince said. "On Sunday night, September 27th, you're going to defend the WWF Championship against the Undertaker... and Kane... and the Bladewolf in a Fatal 4-Way match!"
"Oh, that's not fair!" JR said.
"Yes, it is!" Shane laughed.
"Austin can't survive against these three against him!" JR argued.
Sunday Night HEAT goes off the air with the Brothers of Destruction staring down Austin who stared back...
And that's it for this chapter everybody. I hope you all enjoyed it.
