The natural light practically blinded Kwon Min-woo and Jun-ho as they came out of the police precinct. After four hours of running errands trying to track down leads for a client's alibi, they were a little closer to a solid defense. Min-woo stretched, and Jun-ho checked his phone.

"Ugh, I do not want to go back to the office," Min-woo whined. "How about we go get something good to eat? You have to be tired of gimbap."

"Actually, Young-woo and I have a deal. She can order gimbap, but we go to restaurants offering other options so I can pick my own food." Jun-ho took another quick look at his phone.

"Well, that is a step in the right direction," Min-woo replied distractedly. "Why do you keep looking at your phone?"

"I put it on silent while we were working, but I thought maybe Young-woo would've called or texted me by now," Jun-ho pouted.

Min-woo pulled out his phone and smiled. He showed the screen to Jun-ho: 2 missed calls and 14 unread messages from Choi Su-yeon. Jun-ho rolled his eyes and looked at his phone again. He had missed lunch with Young-woo, which normally meant his WeChat would be filled with whale facts she had planned to tell him. He smirked at the image of a box of index cards sitting in his desk drawer. Each one had a fact that she had taught him and some that he found on his own.

Settle down, Jun-ho, he told himself. She is more than likely buried in work. But that had never stopped her before!

"Jun-ho, do you want to go get lunch or not?" Min-woo tried again.

Jim-ho shook off the feeling of dread and smiled at his roommate. "I would say you are better off taking Su-yeon to lunch. Or maybe we pick up a snack and meet the team at the office for a debriefing."

Min-woo looked at his friend. He knew that Jun-ho was worried about Woo Young-woo. It was a little odd that she had not tried to contact him at all today. Her routines were her only real comfort in this crazy attorney world.

Since they started dating, their routine has been to meet in the lobby in the morning and go up to the office together. At lunch, they did their usual cafeteria whale conversation, in which Jun-ho had lately surprised her with his own facts or questions that had encouraged her. He was determined to make sure she knew her passion was safe with him. At the end of the day, if she decided not to work late, he would walk her home. If she weren't too tired, she would bring him in a late-night snack with her father. But no matter what, she made sure to end the night with a "goodnight kiss," and Jun-ho was always happy to oblige. Better than holding hands any day of the week.

Jun-ho turns to Min-woo with determination in his eyes. Min-woo didn't need to hear the words. They were headed back to the office.

"Fine, but let's at least stop and get the girls something," he relented.

Young-woo had picked up and put down her phone about 25 times in the last four hours. She had barely seen Jun-ho at all, and it was making her uncomfortable. When Min-woo met her and Jun-ho at the elevator this morning, he had not given them much chance to say goodbye or do anything that would have eased her anxiousness. It was a whirlwind of demands, and then the next thing she knew, Jun-ho was getting pulled back into the elevator, and Min-woo was telling her to go to Senior Jung's office for her latest assignment.

She got through the morning meeting without difficulty, but everything changed once she was in her office. Her hyper-focused tendencies made the first uninterrupted 30 minutes a breeze. The interruption came in the form of a knock. Her heart leaped, thinking it might be Jun-ho, but common sense reminded her that that wasn't his knock.

In popped "Spring Sunshine," Choi Su-yeon. She had some materials that she wanted to run by Woo Young-woo. The distracted attorney was able to pull herself together to help Choi Su-yeon form a cohesive argument. Once Su-yeon felt comfortable with their work, she leaned back in the client's chair and sighed, "Min-woo said he was going to be gone most of the day. Since Jun-ho will be with him, do you want me to come to pick you up for lunch?"

Young-woo seriously contemplated saying no. Lunch is the only time she can talk about whales, and Su-yeon hates her whale talk. Plus, Su-yeon only ever asks about Young-woo's relationship with Jun-ho or talks about the latest date Min-woo surprised her with. Although she thought about saying no, she nodded in agreement. Satisfied, Su-yeon left with a smile on her face. Young-woo knew she was not going to enjoy lunch fully, but she was trying not to be so entirely dependent on Jun-ho and his company.

Her mind whirled with images of whales and Jun-ho. Each vying for her attention, but lately, Jun-ho started winning. She picked up her phone and immediately put it back down. He is working. He probably shouldn't be disturbed. Unconvinced, she picked up the phone again. This time she made it as far as his contact in her "favorites" list. Before she pressed "call," she quickly slapped the phone down a little farther away for herself. I can do this… I need to do this.

The day went by slowly, but between work and whales, she was able to keep her mind off her phone and a certain missing member of litigation. She started working her way out of her work wormhole. She stretched and yawned, looking at the clock and seeing that it was only 3:30. Technically, it had only been two and a half hours since she returned from lunch. Screw it, she whispered to herself and grabbed her phone. Her finger was poised over the call button when she heard a rumble of greetings outside her office. She moved quickly to the window to check it out, and there he stood.

Jun-ho was slightly bent over his desk, dropping his backpack and checking the messages left for him. I should've left him a note on his desk, she smiled. I think he would think that was cute. He looked up and immediately locked eyes with her. Her entire body relaxed at just the sight of him. It is amazing how just looking at him makes all of her feel safe… then he smiled, and her anxiety melted away.

Jun-ho's anxiety melted when he saw those gorgeous brown eyes peeking through the blinds. He realized a long time ago that just seeing her made him happy, but knowing that she needed to see him too made his whole world brighter. But right now, he wanted to hold her and chastise her for not reaching out to him when she clearly wanted to.

He beelined for her office and was interrupted just as he approached the door. He managed to keep his growl of frustration internal, but he was not going to be distracted for long. "Mr. Cha, I am sorry, I have an important meeting to attend to first, and then I will be available to report."

Mr. Cha bought it and moved on. Jun-ho slipped into Young-woo's office. She was waiting for him just off to the side. He wanted to pull her into his arms, but he didn't know where her mind was and didn't want her to pull away. They stared at each other for half a second before she stepped forward, giving him permission to pull her close. The moment their lips met, the day's stress and anxiety dissipated.

He pulled away slightly, "Why didn't you text me? I mean would've accepted anything, even the lunchtime whale facts. I missed you."

She looked a little sad, mostly because she didn't think he would want that, and here she could've. "Su-yeon stole me for lunch, and I didn't want to be rude." She tried to pull him back in for another kiss. He wasn't falling for it.

"But you didn't text me at all today, and I know that you would probably look at your phone about twenty times."

Young-woo gave a slight pouting face as a blush colored her cheeks. "I was trying not to rely on you to get through my day?"

"Do not ever try that again," he growled as he pulled her in for the kiss she had been waiting for.
