Mikaelson Mansion
Evening
Cami and Vanessa went down to sit near the pool to have another glass of wine after dealing with their girls.
"I don't usually like red, but this is good," Cami said. "It's worth pumping and dumping, at least."
Vanessa smiled and topped off Cami's glass.
"Yeah, Elijah got this merlot in France, I think," Vanessa shared. "I'm glad they are coming home tomorrow. But are you sure you are okay with Hayley coming back with them."
Cami smiled, "Honestly, I am. Klaus will worry and fret something awful about this. I hate to see him so worried. Like after all we've been through, it's another hurdle. Without the kids and this part to distract him, sometimes I don't know where he would be. That sounds terrible to say aloud, but it's true."
"Elijah's like that. It's like they can't admit that they do worry and can't control everything," Vanessa agreed. "Ah, it's a nice night out. That moon is beautiful."
Cami looked up and noticed the moon in the night sky. The clouds were moving and it almost looked like it was moving. The images was reflected on the pool water, blurring it.
"It is," Cami smiled. "Do you think we got through to the girls? I meant it when I said my own mom would have used the brush for a lot less. I got spanked one time at the park for rolling my eyes at her! Right in front of everyone."
"Ouch," Vanessa laughed. "In a way, I'm envious. I was always expected to be a little adult. Plus, my parents were working and I was alone a lot. It made me mature, but I never really got to feel like a kid. If I did something silly, they acted like I was kind of a moron."
"They should have had Sean there. I know he's a priest now, but in a way, he's still a big kid. I hate it that he had to take over the human faction in New Orleans. That was always Uncle Kieran's thing. My uncle was capable, but he also knew how to have fun. I hope Sean holds onto that, despite his responsibilities," Cami concluded, finishing her glass of wine. Before she could stop her, Vanessa empties the rest of the bottle into her wine glass.
"Can't waste this," Vanessa said. "But also don't bust the glass, we'd have hell to pay if Elijah caught wind of it. I couldn't find the plastic wine glasses."
"I don't know. After we got tipsy on that sangria Georgie made, maybe they got thrown out. I don't think it's supposed to be that strong. That Georgie is something else," Cami went on, the wine loosening her tongue.
Vanessa pulled her brown, glossy hair back into a messy bun.
"She sure is," Vanessa verified. "I don't know what we're doing costume wise. And Elijah is not wanting to dress up."
Cami raised her eyebrows. "No costume, no admittance, right?"
"Yes, that's what the invite says. Oh, and to answer your question from before," Vanessa said, "Yes, I really think we got through to them. Danny was pretty surprised to feel my hand across her backside. What about Penny?"
Cami shrugged, "It's hard to tell. I probably pissed her off more. She's been good about helping out with Ansel. I think she likes being a big sister, but she still tries to get away with too much. Klaus will probably try to buy her a yacht or something tomorrow. Vanessa, is that light on in the pool house?"
Vanessa sat up and looked over at the pool house.
"Yes, it wasn't on a minute ago," Vanessa said. "You stay here..."
"Sadie wants out," Cami said, getting up to let the dog out of the sliding glass door.
Vanessa vamped over to the pool house.
"Hello?" Vanessa called, listening. "Connor? Is that you?"
Connor opened the door and behind him peered out Angela.
"Sorry, Aunt Vanessa, we were watching tv. and then we fell asleep," Connor said sheepishly.
"Angela, it's past midnight. Do you parents know you are here?" Vanessa asked, as the girl arranged her clothing.
"Um, yeah, they don't really care," Angela mumbled. Vanessa heard the truth in her voice and felt a pang of sadness.
"Okay, um, well, there's a guest room off the kitchen," Vanessa stated. "Cami, they fell asleep..."
Connor shut off the lights and gathered up some towels and wrapped one around his on-off again girlfriend. They walked to wear Cami was petting Ansel.
Cami frowned, "Honey, it's late. You better get up to bed. Angela, are you sure you don't need a ride home? We could see if Kol is still awake."
Angela was a voluptuous girl who had dark curly hair and was a little rough around the edges. She rarely stayed for dinner, as she wasn't entirely comfortable around the mansion.
"Nah, it's okay. I can borrow something off of Dana or Rachael tomorrow morning," Angela suggested.
"Okay, there are towels in the bathroom. Help yourself, you know the drill," Cami said. Angela had stayed over after a party once before, but left before breakfast.
"I'll walk her in," Vanessa said.
"Good night," Connor said. He winked at Angela and she waved bye.
Cami turned and gave him a look.
"Conner, what's going on?" Cami asked with a sigh.
Connor reddened, "Um, nothing much. She's having some problems at home. Her parents split and her mom has a new boyfriend. I was gonna talk to y'all, but like I said, we fell asleep." Sadie ran up and greeted Connor happily.
"Oh, that's terrible. Is she in danger? Does she need a place to stay?" Cami inquired, glancing back as Vanessa and Angela went in the glass doors back into the house. The mansion looked vast from this vantage point. The white stone was lit from various lights and the moonlight shown on it. Sometimes Cami felt like they lived in a castle.
"No, ma'am, I don't reckon so," Connor stated. "I think she just don't like the guy. But thanks for asking."
"Of course, I know you care about her. You're a good friend," Cami said. "Um, your sister and the younger girls got in a bit of hot water tonight. Can you like me know if you hear anything about them fooling around? Have they been up to your floor lately?"
"No, not really. Oh yeah, they did come up to the game room and were playing around up there. I think they were trying to play pool or trying to anyways. Uncle Kol yelled at them about scratching the felt, but that's it. Is this about them doing that doll thing?" Connor asked wearily.
"You got it. Poor Aaron has a phobia of dolls and they thought it would be funny to torture him. They all got a spanking and are going to apologize tomorrow," Cami shared, as she picked up the empty bottle and wine glasses.
"Penny? Apologize?" Connor smirked. "I sure would like to see that."
"Yeah, me, too," Cami agreed. "You go on up to bed. Put those towels in the hamper, not on the floor!"
"Yes, Mom," Connor said, kissing her on the cheek.
"Tomorrow might be a little crazy," Cami warned. "But if Angela needs help, we can figure something out. Okay?"
"Got it," Connor said, yawning.
"And Connor? This is the last night this happens," Cami added. "I know things come up, but it you abuse our trust, you are going to lose privileges. Friends are supposed to go home before 9 and bed is at 10pm."
Connor gulped and looked guilty. "I know. Sorry."
"Night, hon," Cami said. "Love you. Get some sleep."
Morning
Kitchen
Klaus went downstairs early and found Kol making coffee. Klaus' hair was disheveled and his eyes red from a lack of sleep. Ansel had woken up several times and aside from her nursing him, he left her to sleep as he tended their son.
"You're up early, Brother," Klaus said, sitting down at the island and opening the newspaper.
"So are you," Kol retorted. "Are you aware that Connor's lady friend is in Freya's old room?"
Klaus looked surprised a moment. "Nay, Camille told me. They fell asleep and she stayed over."
"Well, she took off. Some lad in an old truck picked her up at the gate. I had to open it for you," Kol said, hitting the button for the coffee to brew. "Since you couldn't get your lazy arse out of bed any earlier."
"Most likely her brother. Marcellus hired him to wash dishes at the Grill. Big fellow?" Klaus asked.
"Aye," Kol confirmed. "But do you think they were really sleeping?"
"Of course they weren't bloody sleeping!" Klaus said irritably. "But Cami said the girl is having problems. What would you have me do?"
Kol let a smile play on his lips, "Only saying that maybe you ought to warn him to be careful. You know, if hybrids can breed..."
"I have taken care to speak to all of my sons. You worry about your sons," Klaus growled. "See that they don't attract rodents and vermin into the house. Yes, I heard about the state of their room. Rotting food and all kinds of filth under the beds!"
"The boys said that the girls planted that food," Kol defended. "Please see that your daughter and the others kindly stay the hell out of their room!"
"They were punished last night by their mums," Klaus said smugly. "You shalln't hear another word about it. Now, could you kindly move aside? I have lunches to prepare."
Kol guffawed, "Oh, I have to see this. You may have pulled off the mac and cheese, but I would love to see you made sandwiches. Go ahead, Brother. I need a good laugh."
Klaus' eyes narrowed, "Just because you are soon-to-be wed does not mean I still can't thrash your insolent hide, young man!"
Kol grinned and pulled down his shorts and smacked his own white behind.
"Try it, old man!" Kol challenged as he leapt to the other side of the kitchen ready to head up to the second floor.
"Kol, stop this," Klaus warned.
"Make me!" Kol snapped, giving Klaus the finger. "Learned that from your sons, too."
Klaus' eyes burned orange and he catch Kol and vamped him back in the kitchen. He hauled him into the adjoining bedroom.
Angela had made the bed, but it still looked rumbled. No matter, it was able to get more rumbled in a moment.
"Nik, come on! I was jesting. Fuck off," Kol whined as Klaus kicked the door shut.
"Nay, you've gone too long between hidings and now you're going to get it," Klaus said. He hauled his thrashing brother over to the bed and forced him over his lap after yanking down his shorts.
"No drawers, how convenient," Klaus said, pinning Kol down with his left hand.
Smack! Smack! Smack!
"Bloody hell. The kids will be down soon!" Kol protested.
"Yes and they shall hear you wailing if you don't quiet down," Klaus threatened. He opened the bedside table drawer and took out the paddleball paddle. Another happy convenience as Klaus had taken it out of the kitchen drawer a day or two earlier. Erik had lied about taking out the garbage and Klaus had given him five hearty swats in the very same spot.
POP!
"Not that bloody thing!" Kol shrieked. Klaus had given his favorite parenting tool a fresh coating of vervain and wolfsbane. Yes, this would teach Kol some manners. Mocking his elder brother at 6am...Klaus fumed.
Pop!
Kol's feet shot out, kicking the headboard of the bed, as his head and arms were almost off the bed. Klaus shifted him a bit and laid the paddle on his bottom, patting it.
"Oh for God's sake, Brother!" Kol beseeched. "I was just needling ya."
Kol prided himself on irritating his brothers as much as possible and getting away with it. Today, he may have misjudged Klaus' limits. Damn, now his own arse was going to pay.
"Was it wise to get cheeky with me this morn?" Klaus questioned. Tap. Tap. Tap.
"Bugger off!" Kol hissed.
POP!
"OWWWWWW," Kol bellowed. "That thing is going in the b-bonfire this year!"
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Nay, your sassy behind is the only thing that is going to burn right now," Klaus countered, he was starting to feel better.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Fuck you, Nik!" Kol said sharply.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"You must really need a paddling," Klaus answered dryly. "I've missed these little chats."
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Kol pounded on the floor with his fists as Klaus pounded on his bottom.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Fine, s-sorry," Kol said. "Let me up!"
Pop! Pop! Pop!
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Ouch. Stop already," Kol pleaded.
"Are you going to behave like an adult?" Klaus pressed, pausing the spanking.
"Yah," Kol sniffed, not crying fully.
Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!
"I didn't hear you, little brother," Klaus continued.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"Yes, sir, I will b-behave," Kol attested, now chastised.
Pop! Pop! Pop!
"I will you will," Klaus said. He put the paddle down and swatted Kol's sit spots with the flat of his hand.
"Ahhhh, son of-," Kol started, but was cut off by a flurry of hard smacks to the center of his red rump.
Smack. Smack. Smack.
Smack. Smack. Crack!
"Niklaus!" Kol whined. "I am s-sorry." His bottom was now throbbing and hot. His brother had made his point.
Klaus pulled up Kol's shorts and gave him one last mighty whack.
Crack!
"I believe you are," Klaus smiled. "I think we both needed that."
Kol hopped up and down rubbing his searing buttocks wildly.
"Ahhhh, some blokes can't take a joke," Kol sneered.
Klaus laughed and pulled Kol into a hug.
"I love you, Kol," Klaus said with emotion. "But the gods know. No one can irritate me like you can."
"Likewise," Kol grumbled. "And you best hide your favorite paddle...Who has a favorite paddle? You're a..."
"Kol," Klaus warned.
"Never you mind," Kol said, wiping at his eyes quickly.
"Now, how about you help with with the damnable sandwiches? The last time the children threw them in the trash," Klaus admitted. "I apparently used too much jam."
"Jelly, it's jelly they like," Kol corrected.
"What's the difference?" Klaus asked, as they walked out.
"I do not know," Kol said honestly. "Read the labels."
"Just help me," Klaus said, as they walked back into the kitchen.
"Or what? You'll thrash me again?" Kol smirked, rubbing his backside.
"Aye, don't tempt me," Klaus threatened as went to smack Kol's bottom again. This time, Kol swerved out of the way. They made the lunches and managed to even make breakfast before the teens came down to eat.

Hayley's Office
Morning
"I think I have everything," Hayley fussed. "Oh Jack, I'm never gonna be able to sleep without you beside me."
"Nonsense, you could sleep through a hurricane," Jackson smiled. "I know Marcel and Rebekah will take good care of you, but promise me, you ain't gonna worry about this place."
"I won't. I swear. But, um, check in with Emma about Pedro," Hayley said. "He's been making a lot of progress with his spells. I promised him that I would help him with that bird house he's making. And Diego been up to something in the woods. I don't know what, but watch him. Ah, Lisina wanted Henry to come back this weekend for a visit. Maybe you could drop him when you visit Mary...," Hayley started.
"Babe," Jackson said gently. "I know. You made me a list. Remember?"
Hayley smiled. "Yeah, I know. Oh, Will and Dolly need that check for the new wrestling mat in the gym. The pool guy is coming next Wednesday.-"
"Hayley, stop," Jackson said, taking her hands. "It's all going to be fine. You are only a phone call away. Dorian also got your list. Emma is on top of things. Dolly has everything under control."
"I know," Hayley said, with tears in her eyes. "I just don't want to go."
Jackson put his hand on her belly.
"You ain't doing it for yourself. We all know that," Jackson said softly. "Kiss me one more time. They are waiting on ya."
Hayley let Jackson kiss her and then she let him walk her out.
"All set?" Marcel asked.
"Yup," Hayley said bravely. Bonnie, Tommy, and Elijah were already waiting in the car.
"Wait," a small voice cried as Hayley got nearer to the door.
Pedro, a small boy with curly black hair and large brown eyes ran up to Hayley. He pressed a small beaded necklace into her hand.
"It's for protection," Pedro explained.
Hayley leaned down and hugged him.
"Thanks, sweetie. It's lovely. I'll wear it everyday. I love you. Be good, okay?" Hayley said, holding back the torrent of emotions.
"Love you," Pedro said. Emma came out and took his hand.
"Have a good journey," Emma said. "We'll be alright here."
"I know," Hayley smiled. She couldn't look back at Jack or she would never leave.
"Who wants a milkshake?" Emma called out to distract the child.
"I'm not hungry," Pedro grunted.
"Oh, come on," Emma urged. "Hayley will be back soon enough. Jackson, would you help me? I've heard you make the best milkshakes here."
Jackson swallowed, "Some say that, but don't like Ollie hear ya. Come on, Pedro, I'll give ya a ride."
Jackson hoisted the small boy on his shoulders and carried him into the large kitchen. They were all heart-broken, but Hayley had to do this.
For all of them.

Ric's Office
Same Day
Elena paced outside Ric's office until he opened the door.
"Finally," Elena spat, barging into the tiny office.
"Hey, hey, I was on a phone call with the superintendent," Ric said. "What's wrong?"
Elena grimaced, "It's Caroline. I think she compelled Miss Boseman! Ric, she's getting totally nuts."
"What?" Ric asked, removing his reading glasses. "Come in and have a seat. I have twenty minutes before class."
Elena huffed, "I can't believe what just happened. I really need to talk to you!"
"I'm here. Now, calm down and explain what happened," Ric said.
By the time Elena was done, Ric was fuming.
"So let me get this straight, Caroline found out that Erica Boseman is the new cheerleading coach and made herself the captain? Without any tryouts or anything?" Ric clarified. "People are going to be wondering what the hell is going on? She can't do that."
"Yeah, and Miss Boseman was suddenly wearing a scarf around her neck. Then, I recognized it as one of Caroline's scarves. She wore it to the decade dance when it was the fifties! Ric, she's feeding from the faculty!" Elena almost yelled. "And my German teacher!"
"No, Stefan is supposed to be watching her," Ric said. "And Caroline doesn't even take German...Let me talk to Stefan and see what is going on. You get back to class. Aren't you in-."
"I'm not going back to class until you figure out what is going on," Elena said stubbornly.
Ric's face grew stern. He snapped, "Elena, you march back to class right now before I put you over my knee. I said I'll take care of it. Now, go."
"Fine, but if she lies her way out of this and really hurts someone, this is on you," Elena accused.
Elena scowled and stomped out of the office before Ric could write her a pass. Her dark hair flounced as she slammed the door shut loudly. Jesus, it was like he was at home, Ric thought wearily. He remembered he had promised Jenna he would call the elementary school and investigate what was going on with Damon. The boy hadn't even opened up to Stefan last night. They had coaxed him to eat a little at dinner, but then Damon went to bed early. Both Jenna and Ric were worried. Enzo also wasn't saying much.
Ric called the secretary from his office phone, "Mrs. H., can you have Mr. Burns cover my third hour? They are reading Chapter 4. And send Stefan Salvatore to my office, please. Thank you."
Ric leaned back in the cheap office chair and fished out his flask that he kept hidden in his desk. It had been the old Damon's. And like the old Damon, Ric kept it filled with bourbon. He took a swill and waited for the "teen" vampire to arrive.
