(Continuing From Where Last Chapter Left Off, Outside of Planet Sadala. . .)
Wind sparkling in gold became the clouds that covered a good portion of Planet Sadala's sky. It was a sight to behold, especially when watching it from space where it was leaking and spreading through Universe 6 from the now second hole in the barrier. However, the marvelous sight that overtook even that was the faint trace of a mythical creature clearly visible and shaped by the clouds of gold. This was what left Whis breathless, "What a sight. . ."
"I'll second that," Vados agreed, her expression mimicking his own before being the first to address the current situation, "Brother, it seems the problem has been taken care of. Shall we. . .?"
Whis blinked before nodding without a word. The two angels raised their staff and the orb within them glowed a sparkling blue. Soon enough, the veil placed over the planet as a container was beginning to ease up, allowing Planet Sadala to finally be part of Universe 6. For a world that had gone through so much in such a short amount of time, it was looking even more beautiful than ever. The scars were visible from above but still, those scars will now be part of Sadala's history. Whis was certain about that, but for now, he finally had time to think, "Sister, I'm thinking of calling an emergency meeting between the Angels." Vados, being his elder sister, could easily understand why.
"I'd thought you say that, though you should be the one to take responsibility for that. I'll do it considering this is my designated universe," Vados assured, before adding, "The events taken were unsettling and I too have questions pertaining to it. But knowing Father. . ."
"He won't give us answers unless pressured too?" Whis affirmed.
The female angel nodded, "Yes, we both know how Father is. He'll never be straightforward with us unless pressured hard by his children." Whis chuckled a bit, recalling numerous occasions of the Grand Priest getting hassled by them. Angels were benevolent beings but that didn't mean they didn't have trivial desires. For one, Kuso with her less modest personality practically harling at him once to get Mohito to stop laughing at her when she messed up her dance at the family gath–I mean angel meeting.
"That is true. . .," Whis smirked, before, "Although, I'm not sure if he knows anything about the other big question."
"The Saiyan that goes by Kuzuku, right?" Vados asked.
Whis nodded, "Yes, him being able to damage the barrier is one thing. But, something doesn't feel right about him. Saiyans are capable of increasing their power at an alarming rate through their respective training, battles, and tribulations. That fact is widely universal and shown during the Tournament of Power. Though, this case of such development wasn't usual. It happened far too quickly and aside from his power, something about him has changed."
"I see. Well, it's not like you can't just ask him. He is one of the few that you added to your trainee list after all," Vados reminded.
Whis didn't deny it. She was right that he could just simply ask Kuzuku directly about this mysterious new power even though the Saiyan wasn't so sure as well. Regardless, alongside Goku and Vegeta, Whis was particularly interested in the younger Saiyan as well ever since he laid eyes on him years ago. Finding just one candidate to become the next God of Destruction was a task in itself. But several? If they chose to voice it, his fellow angels would praise and cheer him for his achievements. Having reassurance in case one day Beerus finally gets bored of his eternal youth of life and decided to relinquish his title, he'd at least have a nice selection to choose as a replacement. Though, it would be a shame, considering the main reason the Saiyans were being trained was simply to satisfy Lord Beerus with a challenge to quench his lust for battle. Something that he's grateful for since they even sparked the Universe 7 G.O.D to take up his training again even though it's without his guidance.
Whis chuckled to himself, "He's probably too embarrassed to train under me with them constantly around. It's either that or knowing him. . .well, he's always been one with quite a bit of culture." As the amusement settle down in his stomach, he got ready to finally head down and congratulate them on their victory. He had to admit, this was a great trial they overcame and if lucky enough, he could convince the Saiyans of Sadala to throw a feast. Two days of space travel as the driver would starve anyone. However, as soon as he even began to turn to Vados to make the suggestion, something faint caught his eye in the distance. It was difficult to see, but he was sure that it was definitely something hovering over the planet. A little speck standing above the golden winds. With his exceptional perception of being an angel, of course, he was able to make out the little features.
For instance, all that he needed to see to confirm it was not something but rather someone was a flowing, bundle of tied moderately spiky brown hair into a ponytail. However, the most pertaining question was. . ., "When did they get here. . .? I didn't even see—!" The second he blinked, the figure was gone in an instant and much to What's surprise, a feeling welled up in him. One that he didn't even think was possible for him to experience in his lifetime as an angel.
True Dread. . .
(Around The Same Time, Currently On Planet Sadala's Battlefield. . .)
"Hah. . .Hah. . .Hah. . ."
Kuzuku took his time to breathe and catch his breath, his eyes fading in color and the halo-like crown around his hand breaking and flowing away with the golden wind that brush past his face alongside the spikes embedded in his legs. They had shattered from the mere force of the final attack he had unleashed and if he wasn't on the verge of falling unconscious then he'd take the time to fully appreciate the sight. He cranked his head up to get a better look. The dark, storm clouds were completely replaced with a swirling collation of golden ones that oozed currents throughout the Saiyan Planet of Universe 6. Gold dust fell from the sky like snow, the sun causing them to be brighter than they should have been. Taking this as a sign, he allowed a weak smirk to form and sighed in relief.
"It's. . .over. . .," Kuzuku remarked, his head now turning to Ryo who looked exhausted from providing him energy, "Wild ride, huh?"
Nodding, Ryo answered, "Yeah, and one with no breaks too. Good thing we crashed into something soft." Kuzuku chuckled, his knee shaking as he felt the need to collapse right then and there. Noticing this, Ryo caught the Saiyan before leaping to get him to a more suitable surface. Given that Ruyi was currently glowing and fading away like flames in the wind, he might as well. It was evident when he touched grown that Ruyi had faded away, and once he laid Kuzuku against so debris, he began to look around.
Everyone had all eyes on him as he notice each of their positions. Goku and Vegeta were trying to prop themself up by using the rubble around them as support. Caulifla was currently in a crater and not moving but she was clearly awake. Kale, unlucky as she may be, was stuck hanging upside down on top of a building while Cabba's back was arced upwards by a fallen wall embedded in the ground. Ironically, the only two who were standing with some strength were Lottus and Champa while Queen Chaya was unconscious behind them. However, all Ryo could do in response to all the stares he was getting was scratch his head and smile nervously, "I'm in some deep trouble, huh?"
"You think?" Vegeta's low growl echoed in his ears. From their few interactions, Ryo could tell he was a troublesome one to get along with and it didn't help that Kuzuku was giving him a skeptical gaze as well. At this point, it was an unwinnable situation with only one option left: Appeasement, "Uh, I promise to uh. . .explain later. Kay!?"
His thumbs-up didn't seem to change their outlook on him. As he gave a blank smile, internally he was sighing. Such a pain but at least they were alive. Although, before he could make another attempt, he turned to look at the sky above, his eyes widening in surprise at what he felt before anyone else, "It can't be. . ." Below the clouds, and still hovering in the center of the open gap, Krugel was floating barely conscious. His form had reverted back to normal except his skin became paler and his hair was completely messy. His eyes were drifting in and out of consciousness while his hand twitched to show signs of life. The Ex-God of Destruction had lost, his mouth partly open due to disbelief.
"Ho-How could this happen. . .? Despite my connections to the space's depths, I can't reform. My body is dying. I'm dying. . ." Krugel lamented, the cracks on his body beginning to form. He thought back to all the rumors and warnings he was given. About the power of the Victories Wisdom King of War and how dangerous his power was. But. . ., "So the stories were true about this being the reason he's so feared. . .Immortality? Regeneration? Even things that contradict their existence or have no form. All of them are useless against something so absolute. . .Still. . ."
Groaning loudly from all of the pain that washed over him, his hand struggled to muster up any strength left. His hand began to glow and unbeknownst to everyone, his eyes stared directly at Kuzuku who was looking in his general direction. He had reverted back to the base form, which meant that the power that brought fear into his heart was no more. Even in his state, "I can kill him!" As that thought, came, a small ball of energy began to form at his tips, one comprised of a destroyer. However, before he could even unleash it, something most shocking came to not only him but to everyone else.
"Teikkyuo: Null Point. . ." Krugel recognized the emotionless voice, his eyes widening as the tip of their black, kung-fu shoes touched his outstretched wrist and caused the energy he conjured to disintegrate. Everyone below was left in utter confusion, even Ryo who was certain that the Ki was similar yet the appearance was not one he was expecting. Long, moderately spiky hair contained by a low ponytail, a black, long-sleeved undershirt covered by a long dark Gi with matching. But, most of all. . .he looked entirely human. However, despite all the attention he got, his sharp, reddish-pink eyes look down at Kuzuku before turning back to Krugel who looked to be shivering in fear, "Disappointing doesn't begin to describe how I feel. With your Tengyoku blessed by Thorian, you should have been done by now. But look at you, you lost. What a waste. . ."
Krugel, who didn't have much time left anyways, swallowed his fear and spoke out. He never really got along with this one in particular as he snarled, "What's it to you? I take no scolding from you, only to my lady!" Nevertheless, the man scoffed before reminding him.
"Hoh? You don't? Tell me you impudent naught, how did you manage to succeed in your object and then proceed to fail twice as hard? You not only killed my candidate to be my servant but also took in my Tengyoku for yourself. Were you that desperate?" He remarked, causing Krugel to bite his tongue.
The dying God of Destruction scowled and averted his eyes, "You weren't here. Those Saiyans, especially that barely awakened Wisdom King were stronger than you think. His skills in martial arts were similar to your own. I had no other choice so—."
"That isn't an excuse, Krugel," He interrupted, his eyes turning back to Kuzuku as he made a mental note, "You lack judgment. If you had perceived the situation with more courtesy instead of looking to have fun then you wouldn't be dying as we speak. You should have fled with the candidate and brought him to me for further training before trying to start an upscale subjugation. The worst case scenario is that these Saiyans would deal with the Mara before you get back."
Krugel was left silent, signaling that he had nothing else to say. He lost, completely and utterly. What was there left for a dying man to give when he put on such a sorry display? Well, he suppose there was something left much to the bitterness he was feeling. With the last ounce of his strength he reached directly into his cloak pocket and pulled out the World's Key which evidently made the man become colored impressed, "Fi-Fine. . ., belittle me all you want. Just take it. . ." Taking a moment, the man nodded and grabbed the runic-covered stone. Soon enough, Krugel's eyes began to drift away in color, his body breaking apart little by little before finally. . .
*WHOOSH*
The wind blew, leaving nothing left of the Ex-God of Destruction, and only the man remained. There was tension in the air, the two older Saiyans quickly showing signs of being wary. Although, Vegeta knew full well that doing just that was futile, "Damn, just our luck. In our current state, we were barely able to handle just one of them. If he were to try something now. . ." His fist clenched as he bared his teeth at the newcomer who seemed to be paying him no mind. His eyes were simply transfixed on Kuzuku who even though he wasn't showing it: was both nervous and a bit curious.
"This new predicament is bad, but I can't help but notice something strange about this guy. His ki. . .it's practically human. I'm certain about that. He might be a human from Universe 6 or something but the weirdest part is that there is something mixed. Something way too familiar. . ." Kuzuku noted, his eyes narrowing in on the man floating above.
His hand raised, signaling that he was indeed about to take action, and momentarily made everyone tense. Even though they were tired, they rather go down fighting than let themselves be killed. Especially for Champa, who was desperately staring at the World's Key that had been taken from him. It didn't matter if he survived this or not, the Grand Priest would make a cat stew out of him and serve it as an offering to Lord Zeno. He shuddered though much to his relief and dismay, something caused the mysterious man to halt whatever he was going to do.
"Leave them be," The voice said, telepathically.
The man lowered his hand and frowned as he never took his gaze off the young Saiyan from Universe 7, his telepathic thought replying, "Are you sure? We can eliminate the X-Factored Special Target right now. . ." He didn't need to see their face to sense them nodding almost faint smirk on their face.
"It's alright, my fellow king," He reaffirmed, "This one isn't a target simply because of his power. He's considered one because we can likely convince him to turn over to our side and aid us in our endeavor. However, the time for negotiations has not come yet nor is it a good time to try. The Angels will make their move and taking on two of them will only buy time for the rest to show up. For now, let's make sure Krugel's death wasn't in vain and bring the World's Key of Universe 6 to me."
The man nodded, completely understanding their reasoning. If he were to stay and try to get things done quicker, then the more trouble they'll have down the road. Right now, they have the element of surprise and secrecy on their side. The less information the enemy could gather on them, the less likely they'll be able to prepare enough. Especially since after this incident, the Grand Priest will likely start taking action. With that said, "Understood. . ." He took one last glance at Kuzuku before suddenly disappearing from their sight.
Everyone stood in a stupor state of mind, their eyes not being able to fathom what had happened. Either they were lucky or all of them had been hit so hard that they were hallucinating things. Regardless, Kuzuku released a sigh of relief before taking a moment to think, "Well, that was strange. I swear he had his eyes on me the entire time. I could assume it was because of that strange power I have but I feel like it was something else. Almost like he was scrutinizing me out of personal reasons. . ."
Frowning at trying to make sense of it all, Kuzuku looked up at Ryo who looked out of place. As if what he saw wasn't what he was expecting despite how much knowledge he had on what was going on with the invaders and also himself. He thought back on everything that had happened, especially back in the mental landscape that he found himself back in on the verge of death. Something was telling him that they were linked to whatever is going on, that was as much as he could possibly confirm. He just had to find out the why. Sighing with fatigue taking over he looked up at the bright sky as he licked his lips from the taste of victory that couldn't be off sited by the appearance of Whis and Vados before muttering. . .
"Bitter. . ."
(A Few Moments Later, On The Way To King Sadala's Castle. . .)
The group was currently flying through the sky, the clouds somewhat returning back to their normal color as the day began to dwindle away into dusk. They hadn't really gotten the time to examine all the destruction across the city as soldiers from several different races worked hard to find survivors as the battle was over. Obviously, though, it was mostly Cabba and Lottus who were lost in it all while everyone else was reflecting on the potential lurking threat in the shadows.
"So, you're telling me the one who was responsible for this was Krugel?" Vados frowned.
Champa nodded, as he was certain it was him, "Yes, Krugel was the main combatant and the one who caused all this. I'm not entirely sure what his motives were when he talked about finding candidates but his real objective was to get my World's Key. . .to which he succeeded." Beerus's brother lowered his tone when he mentioned that last part, half expecting Vados to be absolutely furious with him for the first time in ages. However, unexpectedly, the Angel couldn't muster any rage within her as the oddity of the events overtook her disappointment.
"The Worlds Key. . .? That is certainly a problem," Vados remarked.
"How so?" Goku, being curious, asked.
The female Angel shook her head before explaining, "As you may or may not know, the 12 Universes are separated into different spheres and are paired with sister universes that add up to 13. However, the reason for their separation is to prevent them from merging to provide better management for their designated God of Destructions. However, destroying the barriers would only lead to disorganization but many celestial disasters are likely to happen as a result thus damaging both Universes. Which begs to question. . ."
"Why would Krugel want to cause something like that? If I remember, sister, he was one of the few Gods of Destructions to relinquish their title without saying a word? Perhaps he did it out of spite?" Whis inferred.
Though, as they flew past a group of citizens giving out cheers and praises from below, Champa was the one to break the unknown wall, "No, well, perhaps it was part of it. He said his goal was to recombine some fragments within each Universe's Otherworld to open the Tenkai Realm." Ryo fidgeted at the mention of such a place, the reaction going unnoticed by everyone present as the conversation went on.
"Tenkai Realm? Do you know anything about this, Whis?" Kuzuku, now healed out of courtesy from Whis, questioned with a raised eyebrow. The name for some reason felt familiar though he had no clue what it was.
The Angel shook his head, "No, this is new to me. I don't think father has told any of the Angels about it. However, we were told about the fragments residing in the afterlife of each Universe. Stories are sacred artifacts from the past that father created alongside the very person who created the Super Dragon Balls. But now that we know about it, we got to figure out why would they go so far to access such a place."
"Sadly, he didn't explain any further than that," Champa concluded before adding, "But knowing that he may have accomplices, they may be targeting all the Gods of Destruction and assuming each of them is as strong if not stronger than Krugel. . ."
Whis frowned at the thought, "Then we may have ourselves a very, grave problem. We Angels will likely have to step in to prevent them from acquiring the World Keys from other Universes. I'll definitely have to talk with the Grand Priest once we return to Universe 7." After concluding that, Kuzuku found it was best to add one more question before settling this talk.
"Whis, and uh, you too Vados," Kuzuku said, garnering their attention. He looked down at his hands before asking with hopeful eyes for an answer, "Krugel did mention one other thing. Once uh, awakened some power-up, he kept calling me a Wisdom King? Do you have any idea what that is?"
The two angels from opposing Universes raised an eyebrow at the terminology. There were many titles throughout the Universe. Gods of Destruction, God of Earth, Galatic Emperor, Strongest In The Universe, Dark God. . .The list just goes on and on. However, this "Title" felt more than just some title. No, almost like it was a different being entirely. One that made Whis shake his head, "No, but that does explain some things. . ." Kuzuku tilted his head before taking a glance back at Ryo. He could mention that Ryo was the cause of that change in him but judging from the look in his eyes, the mysterious traveler looked almost pleading for him to keep quiet. He gave a nervous smile at the thought, knowing full well that at the very least, Vegeta and even Goku surprisingly were aware of his weird characteristics. Though, for all the help Ryo provided from an awakening that power to providing him enough energy to win, the least he could do was shut up for now.
"I see," Kuzuku decided to settle things there. Soon enough, they made it to the castle's Balcony where each of them landed. The sun was going down and to be frank, everyone was mentally tired thus a two-day trip back home would honestly be the killer. That said, Lottus, who was carrying his mother on his back, walked over to the bed before laying her down to rest for the day. His eyes were distant, the frown on his face becoming so difficult to hide.
His mother, the Queen of Saiyans, had not only lost her King but also her son in one day. Well, nearly both of them considering he almost kicked the bucket as well. That said, too much happened in one day and the least he could do was give her some space away from all the citizens and soldiers that likely wished to see her. He wasn't sure if she could handle being the Saiyan Queen for a while let alone right now and sleep was the first step for her mental recovery. He sighed, "Okara. . .was it really all that worth it?" With his father currently dead, and his brother died as well according to Cabba, no one was left to take the mantle as Sadala's King: their leader. No one, but him. He bit his lips at the thought of all the responsibilities he'd have to deal with.
"But, isn't that what you deserve? You weren't here after all when they needed you. . .," Lottus reminded himself before sighing. For now, he'll dwell on it later. Recuperation was his priority. He smirked and turn to face everyone with a welcoming smile considering this is the first time he'd have Saiyans from another Universe in the palace, "Well, as a tribute for your help in saving Sadala, I'd like to treat you to a feast if you don't mind—!"
"OUT OF MY WAY CLOWN! AS PRINCE, I CALL DIBS ON THE RIBS FIRST!" Vegeta shouted, his fist somehow finding its way into Goku's stomach as the two had already caught a whiff of the food being prepared in the lower parts of the castle. Lottus continued to smile motionlessly, but underneath it was great dread, "I think we'll have a greater problem with these two at the table. . ."
(King Sadala Palace's Lower Banquet Hall After Settling Them Down. . .)
"Hey Vegeta, mind passing the salt?" Goku asked, with food in his mouth.
The Saiyan prince scoffed, his teeth digging into the piece of ribs that he had rightfully fought for, "Get it yourself. You have a bunch of others to ask to do it for you anyways." Goku stared at him quizzically, completely unaware of the crowd that had accumulated in their location at the banquet hall. It had been like this as quickly as they had gotten in and begun eating. Many citizens, Saiyan warriors, and children huddle up and ignored the array of food set down to get a glimpse of the heroes of their planet. Currently, it was the Universe 7 gang consisting of the Saiyan trio and Ryo getting bombarded with admiration despite the two older Saiyans ignoring them in favor of eating. This left the unfortunate youth to deal with them himself alongside Lottus and Cabba who served as bodyguards in case things got too crazy. No matter where they were or when Saiyans weren't bound by restraints in more ways than one.
"Please, one at a time. . ." Cabba tried to mitigate to no avail.
One Saiyan soldier simply brushed passed him and ended up bumping into Kale without noticing much to her annoyance, "Tell me, are you truly Saiyans from a distant world?"
"Uh, yes, we're from Universe 7 of course. Though, unlike you guys, we are the few remaining Saiyans left. There's this other one called Broly who's just like Kale but he's insanely strong," Kuzuku answered though as quickly as that was settled another question came.
This one came from a Saiyan who looked to be in their early teens, "How do I become strong like you?" His starry eyes and enate enthusiasm in his voice made Kuzuku chuckle a bit. It was as if he were dealing with a younger Goten again though this time, he had too much to explain.
"Uh, a lot of things came into mind but I suppose the best thing to have is a strong will to push yourself beyond your limits. That coupled with dedicated training will make anyone amazing!" Kuzuku tried to answer to the best of his ability. There was clearly a lot more but those things were complicated.
However, as soon as he felt he satisfied another questionnaire who was giggling with childish excitement and probably plotting to become stronger in the next couple of days, the next question would be the one that'll throw him into a loop simply because. . .it was a dangerous one, "Are any of you single?" Kuzuku froze at the question that came from a Saiyan woman in her thirties. She had silver hair and golden eyes, her tanned skin showing under her armor. Judging from her physique, Kuzuku could assume she was pretty strong as she was tall in her own right and had a muscular build. Though, oddly enough, he was beginning to have flashbacks to his high school days. Days that made him shudder.
"Uh. . .no?" Kuzuku answered, before explaining, "Not sure if Sadala does the same thing but all of us have partners and are married. In fact, Goku is a grandfather already, Vegeta's a dad of 2 and my wife is expecting as we speak."
Yup, that was the easy way to deflect any approaches. There was possibly no way they could—, "Oh, which means you can still have more than one spouse?" Kuzuku went mute with a stupid smile on his face that contrasted with how he was really feeling.
"Eh?" He struggled to respond.
The woman smiled like a predator, "You see, I come from a tribe of Saiyans in the Southern districts of the Redzone forest. I'm a soldier now but I still uphold their traditions as the tribe is comprised of mostly women and we only seek strong males. As the daughter of the chief, Cassa, I would like to challenge one of you to a duel and if you win, I shall become your mate."
The persistent chatter went completely silent at the declaration. Hell, Goku and Vegeta had to stop eating to take in what was said as Kuzuku began to run literal equations in his brain. All the while a feeling of dread and innate fear began to well up in him at something glaring at him. He wasn't sure where it was coming from but he had a hunch that their gaze was transcending the barriers between Universes while holding his game collection at gunpoint with some pink energy ball. He shuddered and re-evaluated. He wasn't one to back down from challenges. That was a given. But if he went through with this. . .hell, could this even be considered to have any merit benefiting any of them? If he wins, he gets one more mouth to feed and take care of while dealing with his wife. If he loses on purpose. . .well, it'd be obvious that he faked it considering he was the one who took down Krugel. As scummy as it could sound, he had no choice, "Sorry, Goku, Vegeta. . .I'll have to leave this to you—wait. . .WHERE DID THEY GO!?" Kuzuku questioningly screamed as the two Saiyans had legit vanished as if they were never there. In fact, they were so thorough that they didn't even leave a crumb or a plate and cleaned up their area before leaving. Shaking but still having plenty of other options, Kuzuku tried another approach.
"Umm. . .how about Cabba? I get Lottus isn't an option considering he's the prince and all but Cabba is plenty strong. . ." Kuzuku nervous deterred and caused Cabba to jolt from where he stood.
Cassa frowned as if she were insulted, "He will not do. My only interest is in the one who fought the enemy commander and battled the army of demons. Besides, you along with those three are exceptionally alluring." Kuzuku saw the look in her eye, and he knew how determined she really was. He looked down at his plate which he had barely touched before looking back up at her. Yup, this definitely wasn't worth it.
"So much for food. . .," Kuzuku thought before without warning, he took the chance to press his fingers to his forehead much to everyone's confusion before vanishing from their sight. The feat left everyone stunned, some questioning just how fast he really was despite it being a technique from the Yardrats. However, Cassa simply licked her lips like a predator, her eyes showing glee and anticipation.
"Playing hard to get? Find, I'll hunt you three myself!" With a manic cackle, she bolted out of the room and chased down the hallways in search of where the Saiyans from Universe 7 had gone. Unbeknownst to them, she had quite a keen sense of smell meaning even if she couldn't sense their energy. . .she'd be able to track them. Ironic, truly. They went from partaking in a war to partaking in a manhunt. As funny as it was, it certainly made everyone surrounding the table burst out laughing.
As Lottus shook his head, he failed to notice Caulifla standing alone just inside the corridor. She was chewing on her meat, and her eyes seemed lost enough to ignore what was going on until she felt a hand on her shoulder. Thankfully, she learned to sense Ki well enough to not turn around and punch whoever it was in the face though still, she was annoyed, "What do you want?"
"Is that how you greet your brother after so long?" Renzo raised an eyebrow before adding, "Why aren't you inside enjoying the feast with the others?"
Caulifla frowned, her brain working up a plausible answer but only came out with a deflecting question, "Why aren't you, ," Renzo sighed.
"Ex-General and you know why. I don't like crowds," He reminded.
"Well, I don't either," Caulifla admitted before pouting, her face indicating something that Renzo was having trouble figuring out. His sister was a harder book to read than Portal Science or Spaceship Engineering. Then again, from what he could tell, she did seem different as she continued, "This place isn't for my type. I'm the leader of a gang or did you forget?"
Renzo's face sulked recalling that she was still in a gang. Memories of her coming home all bloody still filled his mind and he did nothing about it to the point that she left. Never to be seen again until he saw wanted posters of her plastered all over the city. This may be the only time she'll ever set foot in the palace considering her accomplishments and contributions to Sadala's salvation. Her brother sighed, "Well, that is true. But just for today, you can relax. You were the one who beat Okara who betrayed us. . ." Caulifla sneered slightly to the side.
"Yes, yes, let's feed and enjoy the company of someone who may have killed their prince. That'll be—," She sarcastically began ranting until she notice Renzo peering at her intently. She stopped, almost taken aback by her brother's demeanor.
"What is it that got you all worked up? You never put yourself down like this," Renzo asked.
Uncharacteristically, Caulifla shrank under his gaze for the first time in years. All the way back when she had accidentally broken one of her mother's antiques and was reprimanded by him. That said, she opened her mouth and nothing came out. It was strange, to say the least. The fierce bandit of a sister struggling to speak? Soon enough, she mustered her courage and stared back at Renzo, "Look, I'm. . .sorry."
Renzo blinked once, "Huh?"
"I'm sorry. . .," Caulifla repeated, this time sounding a bit sadder in her tone, "I'm sorry for how I've been acting all these years and making you worry so much. If I had been more careful, mom and dad would still be around. It was all my fault and. . ."
Renzo looked down at her in surprise. She was shaking, her face hidden as she tried to control her emotions. The Caulifla in the past would never had apologize with so much emotion. That was a testament to how much she had changed. . .all in just a short amount of time. It was refreshing, though he knew that she wasn't the only one to be blamed for their sibling relationship becoming so strained. He had to take a step forward too. He reached out and pulled her in so she can hide her face in his chest, the action catching her by surprise until he spoke, "You've really grown a lot. I don't know about the situation with mom and dad but to me, it wasn't your fault. However, between you and me? I'm just as much to blame. I was never there and I tried to keep my distance from you. At first, I thought it'd be for the best considering what you were going through but eventually, I started to fear you as you drifted away. I was a coward of an older brother so just as much you apologize to me. . .no even more so, I beg for your forgiveness as well." He couldn't see it but Caulifla was left in a bit of shock, her body relaxing into his own that it reminded him of her younger days. The days in which she relied on him more. Though unbeknownst to him, Caulifla had shed a relieving tear.
She felt like she had finally gotten everything off her chest. Her past and inner demons finally find some ground instead of floating in some dark void with no sky or earth to return to, "Thank you. . .brother. . ." There it was, the word that Renzo hadn't heard in so many years. It was difficult to remember how long it's been but it made him feel excitement beyond comprehension.
"No problem, besides, I doubt you need me that much anymore. If you find anyone of interest and they try to pull that stunt again then they'll find themselves in an early grave somewhere! But of course, no way my little sister could possibly fall for someone with her attitude, hahaha—OWWW!" Renzo cried. Yup, a bit too soon to be teasing her as Caulifla wrapped her fingers around the side of his ribs and began pinching hard. If she isn't careful with her current strength then she might break a rib or two. . .Or maybe all of them. Though Renzo was pleading for her to release her grip, it was proven futile as Caulifla's mind went blank and her hidden cheeks went flushed in thought.
She really was starting to think that tonight was going to be one without any sleep.
(Meanwhile, A Few Hours Later, With Kuzuku Ayoma. . .)
The nearest sign of vegetation and wildlife was the first thing that came to their mind before using instant teleportation. Though, he didn't expect it to be as far away from the castle as it currently was. Night had crept its way through the orange sky and the forest was dead silent as critters had likely taken their chance to sleep. That said, Kuzuku was still on high alert, his Ki suppressed as low as he could get it while he smeared mud and dirt all over his body to conceal his scent. He learned that quickly as soon as he heard an overly happy glee in the distance and took note that perhaps the woman he was dealing with had a special case of keen smell. He frowned, his brain finding that this woman was certainly the Saiyan equivalent of an amazon. One that Vegeta had failed to mention or rather. . .was reluctant considering how quickly he left the scene. Currently, though, Kuzuku was walking through the thick bushes and trees, his hand brushing past a rather low branch to enter what looked to be a lake under the full moon.
Any other day, he'd freak out at the premonition of transforming into a giant, rampaging ape from merely glancing in its direction. However, now that he had gotten a good grasp on his Saiyan powers and instincts, he hadn't need to worry about such things. Gaining Super Saiyan 4 was the first step toward that. Unlocking Grand Super Saiyan 4 was another towards mastering it. Now, he had Super Saiyan 5 which was still a work in progress. However, after today's events, he felt almost as lost as he was back then. His feat trod towards the waters and peered into it to see his reflection through the help of the moonlight. His eyes waned a bit, as if he were seeking confirmation whether he was real or not, "What am I. . .?"
The Saiyan youth had to ask himself that for the first time in nearly two decades. He was Saiyan, that much was confirmed by his tail and ability to turn Super Saiyan. But whatever that power he displayed earlier was something that wasn't exactly the same while also not being foreign to him. That's when his mind recalled the words given to him by the person who disappeared.
"I mean you no harm. . .or well, I should say I'm nothing more than a vestige anyways so you don't have to worry."
"The one you refer to as 'Kolard' never separated from you. You were always whole but self-conflicted and hated yourself which in return hurt me more in the process. I felt your anguish and bore with it ever since you were a child. All because I wanted to sedate my selfish desire of curiosity. But. . ."
"I'm a life you once lived. . ."
Recalling the climatic events of the Tournament of Power, he felt that he and his Saiyan instincts were desyncs with one another. That lead to him becoming stagnant and incapable of growing stronger throughout the majority of the tournament in comparison to his peers. However, once he felt he had reconciled with it all, the scars of uncertainty would ease with time as he grows accustomed to the feeling, and in due time, he'd master Super Saiyan 5 and that'll be it. Then, this new mess came along and the setback placed upon him throwing him into an endless fall. If his Saiyan instincts were never segregated due to his self-lamentation, then what was? Who was the person that became one with him and faded away? Who—, "What was the life that I once lived. . .?" The question was so simple but so difficult to try and rationalize. He sighed, his hand scratching the back of his head before he suddenly heard the sound of a twig snapping behind him.
Quickly, he turned around, almost ready to teleport to another location if need be until he notice who it was.
"Wow, judging by your reaction, you're still in hiding? Saiyan woman don't ever give up, huh?" Ryo remarked, his casual demeanor causing Kuzuku to relax.
He let out a sigh of relief as Ryo made his way next to him at the quiet lake, "I think, though she might have finally gotten tired and called it quits. Though just to be safe, we'll be leaving early in the morning and I think the others will agree." Chuckling, the two looked up to the moon as the flowers hiding within the grass remained unbloomed. It was silent, not one that was awkward but one of familiarity with both of them. That's when it clicked to Kuzuku that now was probably a good time.
"So. . .," He trailed off as Ryo nodded for him to continue, "Mind filling in the holes? Everyone is dying to know."
Scratching his cheek, the mysterious traveler was coming up with the best way to start. He knew there was no way he was going to get out of this without spilling some beans so he'd rather get it over with what he currently knows, "Well, to start, you met Sarutaku before he finally passed?"
"Sarutaku? Was that his name?" Kuzuku muttered as Ryo nodded.
"Yes, you could say he is you but also not you," Ryo noted though Kuzuku gave him a frown considering he heard that before from the person mentioned. The mysterious traveler sighed, explaining further, "Okay, not good enough. Got it. To put it simply, you are Sarutaku's incarnation in this world which is why you inherited his powers as well."
Kuzuku cupped his chin, "Incarnation? So it's not like I'm reincarnated or anything."
"That's right, you are a product of Sarutaku's actions in his life though you do resemble him as expected. Though, as a result of you coming to be, he was able to fulfill his wishes before the consequences took hold when I returned Ruyi to you," Ryo answered when pointing at the Saiyan's chest, "Due to that, everything he ever had is beginning to meld into you. His power, his treasures, and even his essence. All of those resulted in you awakening as a Wisdom King."
Kuzuku's eyes widened in surprise, the thrumming light within him gently calling him as Ryo explained everything. He swallowed it back down before asking further, "I see. . .I'm not going to bother to ask how since it's late but do explain what exactly is a Wisdom King? Does it have something to do with what transpired today?" Ryo remained silent, his face growing serious as a frown made its way onto his face. This was all Kuzuku needed to see to know he did know something but was likely unsure if it was factual.
"Probably, though they shouldn't be able to access this world as the Tenkai Realm is sealed off. Though, to answer your question, Wisdom Kings are more along the lines of Primordial Deities who resided in the Tenkai Realm back when the Universes that you know today were one. They are territorial and are constantly at war with one another although their squabbles hardly affected their neighboring realm. Sarutaku was one of the more fearsome ones not just because of his strength but also his ability," Ryo explained.
Quickly, Kuzuku recalled the final moments before Krugel's defeat and what he saw, "You mean that. . ."
"Precisely," The mysterious traveler affirmed, "It's a special type of visual perception that allows him to see the flow of karma within someone and subjugate them under the consequences of actions inflicted. It's a terrifying ability, to say the least."
The young Saiyan took a moment to think, "So that's why Krugel was so careful. The power to put someone under consequences under their jurisdiction? Sure, from how Ryo explained it, it seems to only apply to battle but that's probably the point. The ability pretty much renders immortality or any ability that prevents conventional damage useless and leaves the enemy to their conventional strengths to rely on. It's a power simply made for straightforward confrontations." Kuzuku couldn't help but recall a certain instance where this would have been useful. If he had known or acquired this ability against Merged Zamasu or even better, Future Zamasu, then they wouldn't have needed to struggle so much. Their strategy of alternating defense and offense would have been rendered mute as one fatal blow from him would bypass Zamasu's immortality and kill him as he did Krugel. Though, that also brought up a bigger question.
"Okay, I get that much now. But does that mean other Wisdom Kings have similar abilities?" Kuzuku wondered.
Ryo took a moment before answering, "Well, Wisdom Kings are known to be absurdly powerful but few actually utilize gimmicks such as that. The only one I know who is particularly annoying is the Wisdom Kings of Magic but they are considered the weakest of the bunch. However, there is one more troublesome one. . ." Kuzuku raised an eyebrow until the mysterious traveler only gave him an assuring smile.
"But don't worry about him. There's no way he could be in this world considering he'd never leave his place in the Tenkai Realm," He assured.
Kuzuku sighed with some relief at not having to deal with an even bigger issue piling on top of others. For all he knew, the only people that had to be stopped were the ones after the World's Key and that mysterious man that they had encountered at the end of the battle. With the Angels likely getting involved then there couldn't possibly be any way that they'd actually succeed. That said, the Saiyan only had one more question left, "Alright, so the last question before we go hit the hay. Just who are you, Ryo Kenga?" The wind blew and caused strands of grass to fly upward to reveal the unbloomed flowers. The moon's light seemingly grew brighter as Kuzuku stared adamantly for an answer. The mysterious traveler blinked a few times before smiling warmly and began to kneel, the action taking Kuzuku by surprise as he wasn't used to this sort of treatment.
"I'm Ryong of course. Former retainer of Sarutaku and his right-hand man. From here on, I'll be aiding you as my new master. . .," Ryo said.
The night was growing old and the day had already ended at its nigh. However, Kuzuku was sure that all surprises were out of the bag but this. . .this was enough to send him to bed atlas.
A/N: Sorry for the long wait, got sidetracked by typing too much that I forgot to post. Anyways, this marks the completion of the Planet Sadala Invasion Arc and as you could tell, this only served to thicken the plot. I took the moment to explain a few things though not completely. Just know some more details will be revealed in part two of the Epilogue but not to the point it'll give away the full story. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until we meet again!
