Chapter 22

Lucifer straightened up, his face human again. The touch of the summoning circle had been repulsive, the vibrations and intentions in it so dark and evil that even he, the ruler of Hell, could hardly believe it.

Maze, on the other hand, still had her hand pressed to the circle, her demon face still present. "I almost feel at home. I haven't felt anything this depraved since I left Hell."

"Maze", Lucifer said quietly.

Maze sighed regretfully, stood up and assumed her human face again. "Alright, alright." She looked at Elijah. "I'd really enjoy killing that Vincent guy for you."

Elijah chuckled. "I appreciate your offer, but I think I'll find enough volunteers in case I don't do it myself."

Charlotte looked at Lucifer. "What happens when a witch loses their powers? Will they go to your hell then?"

Lucifer frowned thoughtfully. "No, not automatically, but there have been a few cases. A tribunal convicted them, which then denied them their powers and ritually stripped them of their abilities. After that they were normal humans and came into my realm."

"A witch tribunal." Freya looked fascinated. "I've heard about them, but they happen very rarely. Anyway, no witch tribunal will try Vincent for wanting to murder all vampires."

"Yes, even that will be no reason for them." Davina indicated the circle with a disgusted face. "Most witches will think, if he actually kills all the vampires, that all means justify the end, and they'd forgive him that one-time use."

"What a shame", Charlotte said contemplative.

Lucifer looked at his mother, noticing an odd undertone to her comment.

"Freya, can you disable the summoning circle's magic?" asked Elijah.

"The magic is strong, I will need Davina's help to break it", Freya said uncertainly. "And it will weaken us to the point that it will take us a few hours to recover even a little. We couldn't help you in the coming battle."

"I think we have to take the risk", Davina replied firmly.

Freya nodded in agreement and looked at her brother, leaving to him the last decision. "Elijah?"

"Do it, the danger for all vampires is too great", said Elijah determinedly.

Freya and Davina knelt opposite each other and placed their hands on the circle. After a few minutes, sweat stood out on their foreheads and they looked visibly exhausted, but finally they took their hands away.

"Lucifer, you three can feel the magic too. Could you check the circle again?" Freya asked in a tired voice.

Lucifer nodded and squatted down again with Maze and Charlotte and placed their hands on the circle. A few seconds later, everyone straightened up again.

"The magic is destroyed", Lucifer said smiling and looking at Elijah. "You can now enter the circle safely."

"Then let's destroy the summoning circle", said Kol. He entered the circle and stamped his foot hard, immediately a crack appeared in the concrete. "You're welcome to help."

Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah followed suit and within minutes, the room looked as if several construction workers had used hammer drills.

"How strong are you?" Maze asked curiously.

"We could dismantle this warehouse with our bare hands if we wanted to," said Kol gleeful.

"But we won't do that because it would be too difficult to explain", Elijah said and rolled his eyes. "This room will raise enough questions if someone enters this warehouse."

"What did you find in the lab, Davina?" Klaus asked curious.

"I think it used to be a drug lab. There was enough dust on the equipment to ignore it", Davina replied with a shrug.

"Interesting." Klaus started to smile.

Danny, who had stayed outside, came in. "We have visitors, I hear heartbeats, very many of them."

"Thank you for your vigilance, Daniel", Elijah said in a calm voice. He looked at Freya and Davina, who had some colour in their faces again. "Let's hope Marcellus isn't with them."

"Don't worry, I still have enough strength for one last spell, especially if it this spell", said Freya grimly.

Everyone present left the room and stood in a long line next to each other. The only exceptions were Davina and Freya, who remained in the room. Lucifer assumed they were preparing the spell that would take away Marcel's abilities as the Beast. Charlotte, Kol and Daniel stayed by the door to protect the weakened witches.

Elijah stood in the middle, with Klaus and Lucifer at his sides, then Rebekah next to Klaus and Maze next to Lucifer. Maze had drawn two of her longer demon blades and passed one to Lucifer, who took it immediately.

Elijah noticed the transfer and said. "You know that you can go? You don't have to fight with us. There are coming more enemies as I expected."

„Are you kidding? It's been too long since I could do a real massacre." Maze laughed bloodthirsty.

Klaus chuckled. "I like her."

"Of course you do", Elijah replied.

Lucifer could see the corners of his mouth twitch, though. "Don't worry about us. We can more than hold our own in a fight and these demon blades are dangerous. While I'm not as keen on massacre as Maze is, there's no way I'm going to let you down against overwhelming odds."

A larger number of people now entered the warehouse, facing the Originals and their allies. They all sneered in disdain, noting the much smaller number of their opponents.

Lucifer also recognized Sofya among them from Elijah's description. "Maze, do you see her?"

"Yes, Lucifer", Maze replied calmly.

"Should you get into a fight with her…" Lucifer grinned at her.

"I won't kill her, just disable her", Maze said, amused. "After all, I don't want to spoil Rebekah's fun."

"Thanks, Maze", Rebekah said, hearing everything despite the meters that separated them.

Finally, the influx stopped and Lucifer counted almost two hundred persons. "Are they all witches?" he asked quietly.

"No, most of them are werewolves", Klaus answered just as softly. "Luckily, the full moon isn't until tomorrow, so they can't turn into wolves. But even now they are stronger than yesterday."

"Yes, and none of them are part of the New Orleans packs, they have no control over their transformation", Elijah added calmly.

"What about the witches?" Lucifer asked worried. "Now that Freya and Davina can't help us anymore, we are a little short on effective means against their magic."

"We just have to kill them first", Elijah said dispassionately. "Ah, there are finally Marcel and Vincent."

Lucifer looked at the two men who were now pushing through the crowd. "Maze..."

"Yes, I know I won't kill them", Maze said with a sigh.

"But you can kill as many of the rest as you like", Elijah comforted her, amused.

"Only the ones I don't get to first, of course." Klaus bounced on his feet as he stared greedily at his future victims.

Slowly Lucifer understood what Elijah had meant with his comment that Maze shouldn't have too much contact with Kol and Klaus.

Vincent and Marcel had now lined up in front of the waiting crowd and seemed very confident of their upcoming victory.

"My goodness, they are really very sure of themselves", Lucifer said pensively.

"Yes they are", Elijah replied softly. He now took a step forward too.

Lucifer had observed how Klaus had always claimed the right of way since they had arrived at the warehouse. Even now, he took a step forward and stood next to Elijah but he remained silent.

"Vincent, Marcellus, Sofya, so nice to see you again", Elijah said politely. "We wondered when you would finally step out of the shadows and find the courage to show your faces."

Lucifer grinned. "I really like the way you call someone a coward."

Marcel narrowed his eyes at Lucifer. "This doesn't affect either of you. Go! I will even forgive you for helping my enemies and allow you to live."

Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "My my, someone's being generous." His voice went cold. "I just don't need it. And Maze and I will stay here. Maze in particular thirsts for a little action; she always gets bored so easily."

Maze chuckled. "Can I at least hurt him a little, Elijah?"

"Be my guest. After all, you have a favour good with me", Elijah replied calmly. "So Marcellus, Vincent, what have I done this time?"

"Quite simply, it's your fault that Davina wants nothing more to do with me. You prevent any contact between us", Marcel replied stiffly. His eyes kept drifting to Rebekah.

"And how am I supposed to have managed that when I live in New Orleans and Davina and Kol live wherever they do?" Elijah asked curiously.

"As long as you live in New Orleans, she won't come back to me. She can't stand being around you. No wonder, after all, you murdered her", Marcel accused him.

"And you live in New York, so this excuse won't work for me. And she was already dead and you and Vincent are the ones responsible for her death. For me it was either Davina or my family, the decision was easy for me", Elijah answered and smirked at Marcel.

Lucifer knew why Elijah was having so much fun provoking Marcel and Vincent, after all Davina was here and on his side.

Marcel growled and took a step forward. "Rebekah, please go now!"

Rebekah smiled brittle. "Why should I? So that I don't get the real reason why you really want to kill Elijah and not that fake reason with Davina? You only used it as an excuse because you wanted to hurt Elijah with it." Her gaze wandered to Sofya. "I see you brought your new bed mate. That's good, then I don't have to hunt her down. I'll enjoy tearing her to pieces in front of you."

Marcel gritted his teeth and he glared hatefully at Elijah. "I bet you couldn't wait to tell her about it."

Elijah shrugged and looked sad. "No, not really, because I knew how much it would hurt Rebekah to find out."

"You betrayed me the last time, Marcel." Rebekah stared at him disdainfully. "Consider yourself divorced."

"And what about you, Vincent? What's your reason for wanting to kill me?" Elijah looked bored.

"Marcel asked me for help." Vincent shrugged. "And killing you is a service to humanity; you are a monster without a soul."

"Ah, yes, I remember your words", Elijah said calmly.

Lucifer noticed Klaus move in surprise at this remark.

"On the contrary", Charlotte interjected. "I have seen his soul and there is nothing monstrous in it. The only monstrous thing is what a witch did to the souls of Elijah and his siblings. The only monster here is you. To know that, all I had to do was see the summoning circle and feel the evil you infused into it." She smiled slightly. "The spell you tried to cast with it removed my last shred of doubt that witches are the true abominations, with a few exceptions."

Vincent pressed his lips together. "What do you know about magic? You are a normal human."

Elijah chuckled. "Oh no, she isn't, far from it. Marcellus, I'd be interested to hear what Vincent told you about the spell, he wanted to cast?"

"Vincent wanted to banish all vampires from New Orleans. He would have stored Elijah's magic in a crystal and then performed the necessary spell in New Orleans. As a bonus, Klaus would then have lost his home. If I can't have New Orleans, then nobody can have it." Marcel looked proud of himself.

Klaus growled. "You wanted to take my home from me after everything my family and I sacrificed for it?"

Marcel shrugged disinterestedly. "You don't deserve a home."

"You are so pathetic and an idiot at that." Elijah laughed humourlessly. "Vincent wanted to wipe out our entire race and that includes you."

Vincent winced. "How did you find out? I specifically took a kind of magic that Freya doesn't know much about. She should never have been able to see what the spell was intended for so quickly."

"Oh, it wasn't Freya, it was me." Kol laughed. "You see, as a vampire, I may not be able to use magic anymore but I know the theory of many kinds of magic. It was a piece of cake."

"You wanted to do what?" Marcel had recovered from his shock at Vincent's plans.

"Your kind is a plague on the face of this earth. As a witch, it's my duty to wipe them out for good." Vincent seemed more than a little unhinged now.

"Wow, I just hope this doesn't get passed on to my nephew", Kol sneered.

"That was a very inappropriate remark, Kol", Elijah admonished disapprovingly. "Apologize to your sister."

"You're right. Sorry, Freya", Kol called back.

"We'll talk about that later", said Freya, who now came out of the room. "He also has my genes, and Mikaelson genes are superior anyway." She came forward until she was on the other side of Elijah. She looked very pale and exhausted, but content.

"How is it, Freya?" Elijah asked calmly.

Instead of answering him, Freya spoke a few words from a language Lucifer recognized as an extinct one.

"No", Vincent exclaimed, startled, but it was too late.

Marcel fully vamped out and showed his face as a beast but suddenly it distorted. First, his red eyes returned to the colour of a normal vampire, next, his teeth shrank back to their old size, and the fangs that only he as the Beast possessed, completely disappeared.

By now, Marcel was screaming loudly in pain, he collapsed on his knees and began to belch out a black tar that stank of decay. After he was finished, Marcel curled up on the floor, gasping loudly but no longer screaming. He lay there trembling for a few minutes, but eventually it stopped and Marcel struggled to get up.

"What have you done to me, you bitch?" he yelled at Freya, who smiled coldly at him.

"You are no longer the Beast", she announced loudly. "Your bite is no longer fatal to my siblings."

Vincent and Sofya now looked very concerned. They knew they had just lost their greatest and only advantage against the Originals.

"And I helped her", said Davina in a cold voice, who now also left the room. She squeezed between Freya and Elijah, who willingly stepped aside to make room for her. "You wanted Elijah dead so he couldn't tell Rebekah that you were cheating on your wife. I know what that spell would have done to Elijah. Marcel, you are repulsive."

Then Davina looked at Vincent and her voice trembled with indignation. "You wanted to murder my husband, Vincent. You wanted to wipe out an entire race. I wish I could take your magic away from you, you don't deserve to be a witch."

"You are a traitor to your race", Vincent hurled at her.

"Better a traitor than a monster", Davina replied disgusted. Elijah comfortingly put an arm around her shoulder and she snuggled up to him for a moment. "And as you can see, Marcel, I have no problem being around Elijah."

Marcel looked like Davina had slapped him and then glared hatefully at Elijah.

Maze yawned theatrically. "Does the talking go on for much longer? I'm bored and somebody promised me a massacre."

Elijah chuckled. "No, I think everything necessary has been said. Freya, Davina, please go to Kol." He waited for his sister and sister-in-law to return to his brother. He could hear how Kol sent Daniel with the currently weakened and thus defenceless witches into the room.

Charlotte nudged Kol. "Go to your siblings. Nobody can get past me."

After a moment's hesitation, Kol stood next to Rebekah.

Elijah unbuttoned his jacket and spread his hands. "Shall we?"

"Finally", said Maze.

Vincent tried to cast a spell and stared at his hands in disbelief when nothing happened.

"Ah yes. Elijah, don't worry about the witches, you can slaughter them without them being able to fight back", Charlotte said loudly and amused. "The whole warehouse is now a dead zone for magic, the only exceptions being Freya and Davina."

"Thank you, mother", Lucifer said happily.

"Yes, thank you, Charlotte", said Elijah, smiling. He vamped out and his siblings did the same.

Not surprising at all to Lucifer, it was Klaus, who struck the first blow and the room descended into chaos.

Guest

Thank you.

And the previous chapter was about the Mikaelson family and their reactions to Marcel's and Vincent's plans, anything else would have just killed the flow.

This chapter is entirely from Lucifer's perspective, I hope you like it. And I think you will like the next chapter too once I post it.

And like I said, this is not this kind of story.
